Anyone care to share what Adam is up to for the pregame? I'm stuck listening to Vermonts audio...
McKee
Wallace
Cook
Vesce
Bitz
Moulson (phew)
1 13:01 Cor pp Moulson 12 (Cook 13, Knoepfli 9)

Missed Penalty shot: Cook

Adam interviewed Brent Brekke, who said that Ben Wallace will play tonight.
is i2 sports working, or is vermont audio a better idea?
cool, good news! Thanks!
i2sports working fine. Adam's interviewing Sneddon now.
Vermont announcers are throwing praise all over Cornell and Lynah ("It gives you chills being here, the fans are phenomenal...it's an honor to call a game here!"). It sounds like they are used to getting their listeners ready for a loss...
Hynes out indefinitely. :-/
[q]McKee
Wallace
Cook

So how come two of the non-freshman defensemen are on the same line? I noticed that Schaefer typically had split them all up. Maybe because he's not coaching....j/k
Not sure, that's the starting line up the Vermont announcers announced...
We're dressing only two freshman defensemen tonight: Glover and O'Byrne.
...audio isn't working so well with i2. i hear static. is anyone else experiencing this?
With Wallace back, I'd guess only two frosh will be playing (O'Byrne and Glover). Salmela played while Gleed and then Wallace were out.
Yes, i2 audio is f*cked. It was fine for the pregame, maybe it'll come back.
meh. okay, guess i'll stick with live lynah ;-)

Yep.
ooh! it's back. i2 loves us.
Audio seems to be back.
But lousy quality.
Game is under way
We have a sound board failure. We are working on a fix. Electronic equipment not used to 19 days of straight sub-freezing temperatures!
Anyone able to log into the chat via Warped.net's web interface? I couldn't last week either.
Could someone please post the direct url for the streaming media feed (if it is possible given password issues). I want to try to open it up in the media player window. Ricghtclicking on the video and selecting properties does not reveal anything that looks or works like a url.
I just get a bunch of still pictures that change every few seconds except for brief periods of video. Archived files work fine. Same problem with the past 2 games. I have WM 7.10
Thanks,
Roy
thanks for the feedback!
I'm multiple screwed. Chat isn't working, I don't have audio on my computer at work and the bad i2 audio means no updates. What's going on, people?
warped server isn't working for me via mIRC or web. also, i think it's wonderful that Dr. Jabbour posts updates on tech issues for us here - keep it up!!! This is probably the best possible place for that.
No score halfway through or thereabouts. Cornell PP came up empty.
Thanks, Al.
bra, Cornell has had several chances but are still snakebitten. I don't think UVM has had a threatening shot (not sure if they've had a shot, period).
Vermont killed off an early CU PP. Score still zero-zero.
Hockey East will get some decent announcers. I have to say that the Vermont announcers are fairly good (thus far).
ditto...very impressed
In other news: BU has just given up two short handed goals on the same pp.
Cornell goes on their second PP
Vesce takes a penalty and nullifies the rest of the CU PP.
And another UVM penalty....gonna be a 4 on 3 for :29 seconds.
a hit from behind causes a 4x3 on vermont
SCORE! 1-0
SCORE!!! MOULSON!!!
wow...a lead? what's that? :-}

Matt Moulson took advantage of the Vermont PK, which has given the Cornell point men a lot of room.

2-0!!!
0wn3d!!!! 2-0!! VESCE!
You're wish is Vesce's command. 2-0.
Great feed from Bitz to Vesce. ::nut::
1 16:24 Cor Vesce 7 (Bitz 8)
I hereby relinquish updating to Chris.
Byron Bitz took advantage of a UVM turnover, made a great power move in the offensive zone, and set up Ryan Vesce for the second Cornell goal.

I'm better at color commentary anyway, like:
End 1st, still 2-0.
Good period. Glad to see that the top line is scoring again.
Very solid. Cornell had two or three other great scoring chances. Very good to finally find the net!
First period shots: Cornell 11 Vermont 3.

Dartmouth 1 Colgate 1

Ryan Vesce "lit the lamp" on the first shift of the second period, but the goal light was turned on in error. The puck didn't come close to getting in the net.

Vermont stronger, but now a Cornell PP.
"Shot themselves in the Carefoot on the offsides" - Adam W.
Just as an FYI for those planning on listening to tomorrow night's game against Dartmouth...it is noted on http://www.frontiernet.net/~letsgored/audiolinks.html that the Dartmouth link may not be functional. However, I checked the Dartmouth feed a minute ago and it was playing tonight's game between Colgate and Dartmouth. So breathe easy...

I am watching i2sports for the first time tonight...in the words of Coach, "G-dd-mn!" Wow! This is awesome! The audio is good and there are multiple camera angles...I am very impressed!
8:10 to go in the 2nd. Still 2-0.
penalty shot for cornell
PENALTY SHOT!!!
Travis stops the shot
Dang....hit the post!
Charlie Cook tried his A move (forehand to backhand); Travis Russell made a great save.
It was off the goalie's stick in mid-air apparently. He stopped the puck with his stick on his right side while he fell to the left. Lucky sieve!
UVM power play. Bitz=slashing
PP over
cornell PP
Chris,
Thanks for investigating that. I'll try to remember to change the website to reflect that the link is operational.
Apparently the refs are calling lots of penalties around the puck. Schafer will be happy:-D

Who's reffing?

2nd period over. 2-0
Dell is the ref. Another good period for Cornell -- lots of puck movement and hitting.

6:54 to go, 2-0.
Yet another Cornell pp. God our percentage must be abysmal
there's less pressure on the surface of venus than in the vermont end. . .damn!
CU pp expires, 4:30 to go, 2-0.
Vesce a good setup for Moulson. About 3:30 to go.
2:30
UVM pp coming up on Down's hit from behind. When Vermont pulls Russell they'll be 6x4.
UVm power play. Russel out of net
UVM timeout.
UVM does pull the goalie, faceoff outside the CU zone, 1:30.
Misconduct on Sifers of UVM.

Final, 2-0.
We missed the en shorty twice.
Way to go Red!
1.1 second. lots of penalties. Cam Abbott high sticking.
Game over! McKee with his 4th shutout!

We win.
Good gravy, that 1:30 seemed like forever waiting on this end ::yark::
Dartmouth lost to Colgate 3-1 and Union snuck by Sacred Heart 4-3 -- an ideal night for Cornell.
The Red move back into 2nd place by pct:
.731 Brown
.682 Cornell
.636 Colgate
.636 Dartmouth
.625 RPI
Colgate tied for third by pct!

Three games in a row with third-place teams comin' up.
Dell.
Just to give credit where it's due, Russell's save on Cook was incredible. If you didn't see it, Cook faked Russell out and had nearly an open net on his backhand, but then Russell swung his stick out to the right and met the puck as it was about to go in.

As usual, my thoughts on the game:
- I don't know how badly Moulson was injured last weekend, but it didn't show one bit tonight.
- Though McKee really didn't face a lot of difficult shots, he was playing well and obviously stopped every shot he should have stopped.
- While Russell's save on the penalty shot may have looked incredible, it really seemed like he just got lucky with where his stick ended up. Another inch higher and that would have been a goal. Cook did all he could to make that shot.
- Varteressian was once again kicking ass and taking names (not literally). I don't object to having a bruiser per se (after all, we all love Hornby), just as long as he doesn't rack up too many penalties while doing so.
- The offense did well overall, though at times even I was wishing they'd take more shots on the power play.
- Defense was superb as always, particularly with the 6-on-4 at the end with the Vermont power play and the sieve pulled. An empty netter would have been nice but just preserving the win and shutout was good enough for me.
- This was mostly an easy win, but it was also a must-win game for our boys. Not only was it necessary to close the gap between us and Brown (and try to keep rising above everybody else), but also it provided a good confidence booster, which will help against this weekend's deadlier opponent, Dartmouth, tomorrow night.
- Overall, a really good and exciting game. Let's Go Red!!!
There was a ten minute misconduct for vermont at the end. anyone know why?
[q]There was a ten minute misconduct for vermont at the end. anyone know why?[/q]
Mouthing off to the linesman/assistant referee.
Vermont player whiffed on a shot, then shot it up into the netting above McKee. Seemed like it went straight from his stick into the netting (and the faceoff was brought outside the zone), but he was apparantly arguing that a Cornell player had tipped it.
with coach schafer suspended for tonite's game, who was calling the shots in the cornell bench?
okay, just saw on uscho: Scott Garrow and Brent Brekke.
