Title: [OT] Can anyone do VHS to DVD?
Post by: lmm9 _97 on January 12, 2004, 02:36:59 PM
With all the A/V savvy folks here, is anyone set up to transfer VHS tapes onto DVD?  I've got about 2.5 hours of tape I'd like to transfer, without spending a large fortune.  (Small fortune negotiable :-) )

Thanks!

Lisa,

Let me first try my hand at tranferring video from TiVo to a DVD.  I believe the process shouldn't be much different from VHS, but one step at a time.  If I'm successful with the TiVo, then I'll let you know, and we can work on transferring VHS.

Edit: BTW, we (especially John Beaber) missed you at the Brown game.

It just takes a decent capture card.. with VHS two things to remember.  how good was the capture to tape and how good is the vcr player capabilities.. It will help if the VCR has s-video out.   2 1/2 hrs is right on the edge of high quality that will fit on a single DVD.
