Title: Hahvahd "sell out"?
Post by: Mike Hedrick 01 on January 09, 2004, 11:41:01 PM
I wasn't at the game, but from what I saw on CSTV there were gobs of empty seats along the quarter and half boards in at least one zone and through the corners.    Did my eyes deceive me or is that Harvard's version of a sell out under the new ticket policy?  I was there last year and the place was packed.

No deception.  Lots of empty seats.  Maybe the sub-zero temps scared the Johnnies away.B-]

It should be noted that the main game cameras were stationed on the visitors' side of the rink.  The pockets of Harvard's non-students were what you saw on the screen, but that didn't show the better filled visitors side, chock full of Cornell supporters.  (Harvard's rather embarrassing student fans were situated in Lynah East's equivalent of section G, while their poor sounding band was in the equivalent of section F.)  Al's probably right that the cold scared away season ticket holders.

To be fair, many Cornell fans who had seats on the Harvard side chose to stand at the rail behind the Cornell section.
