Harvard and BC are tied 2-2 near the end of the first
Still 2-2 at end of 2nd, lazy icing at end results in faceoff in Harv zone that BC is able to spin into a minor against Harv, so BC will have almost a full 2 min of pp time to start 3rd.
The Harvard radio announcers are dreadful! Are they robots?
They just tossed in a 1-2-2 and a 2-1-2 comment about the forechecking. Something tells me they have no idea what that means when they don't know what qualifies as a save.
"Is it a bad idea taking shots from so far away?" Commenting on the BC shots from the point during their powerplay.
"We're the ones who are looking like idiots right now."

Ben Eaves gets his third point of the game as BC takes a 3-2 lead.
3 minutes left and it's still 3-2. Sounds like BC is dominating...and once again Dov is keeping it close.

FINAL 3-2. As the announcers said, "Harvard is a .500 hockey team"
Harvard gets outshot 38-18!!!!
If it was the color guy talking about a 1-2-2 forecheck - then I'm sure he knew what he was talking about - because he is former Harvard goalie Chuckie Hughes (class of '92 I believe).
Maybe he was blinded by the glare from his championship ring...

This article from The Crimson is interesting--despite the writer's whining over officiating:

Cahoon's comments about the general quality of ECAC officiating are of interest, however.
::demented:: Two icing calls on the team that's on the p kill? Whoa.. What were those clowns smoking eh?
[Q]Taken slightly out of context, it's possible to say that Saturday night's press conference included a discussion about the importance of always having strawberry preserves handy.[/Q]
Hilarious. An excellent writeup.
[Q]"We're not that talented," [Mazzoleni] added. "I don't know where the perception [comes from] that we're talented."[/Q]
Equally priceless!
Maybe if Hahvahd (sucks) visits Lynah again later this year (i.e. playoffs) we can put that on a sign behind the bench with quotes and all :-)
Display it on a banner at Bright.
Perhaps, just perhaps, the perception that Harvard is talented comes from the 13 NHL draftees on their team.
That's what the coach said -- that they're drafted "on size and potential."

Quote"We've got to play with a lot of jam, and if we don't bring jam, we're a .500 team at best," he added. "That's the bottom line. If we bring jam, we can play with anyone—and probably beat anyone, too."

You could make a sign that merely says: "Got Jam?" with pictures of strawberries and the like :)
...it might be too obscure, but "Smuckers called, and they said YOU SUCK!"
Y'know, if I were a Harvard fan -- well, before improving society by removing myself from the gene pool, I'd spend some time worrying about the part of that article where Mazzoleni says he doesn't know what to expect from his team in the next game. ::twitch:: Perhaps Mazz should be admired for his candor, but I'd like my coach to have figured out by now which guys can be counted on to "bring jam" and how to get the rest of the team to do the same.
Can anyone imagine Schafer saying he doesn't know what to expect from his team? He might say after a game that the boys underplayed or made some mistakes on a given night, and that some things needed to be fixed, but he'd NEVER say that he couldn't figure out which team was going to show up.

And maybe it comes from having most of a team that came in 2d in the ECAC regular season and tournament and received an at-large NCAA bid in 2003 to take on a depleted Cornell team.
well, there is some insider chatter going on in the SUCKS hockey community that their problem is the coaching. nothing official, mind you, but when i've spoken with the few hockey fans here, they always ask,
"Do you think it's the coaching?"
So, maybe Maz is getting defensive about having all this talent, cause it makes HIM look bad, unable to make any impact at the national level.
IF he does get fired ever....
"I'm not gonna do what everybody thinks I'm gonna do...MAZ out!" Maybe his mustache is a fake too...it's just not lookin' right, except on the v-neck we made.
I was going to say exactly the same RedAR. From some little bits and pieces on the Sucks radio games it seems to me that there is some concern there. I think Mazz is just trying to cover himself from excess criticism by deflecting it on the players (which is not the most professional way of handling it). (Was it Rich H who commented about the recent underperformance of Harvard despite having quality players?) I think Mazz may feel some threat to his tenure given this recent history.
It is possible, however, that the team itself is underperforming... I don't know enough to say, and all coaches will have times where they and the team diverge (e.g. Jack Parker's Terriers last year... unusually undisciplined). It does seem that a team that is so inconsistent must have some internal issues, and they can't all be the coaching.

sorry, and I recant my statement

As much as it pains me to semi-root for a Harvardite, Dominic Moore is one of the star players for the Hartford Wolfpack (in fact, he had the GWG on Sunday)... Based on what I've seen from him, I think that reaction definitely says something.

I guess, since he's in the Rangers organization and all, I don't SO much mind rooting for Moore. (Although I have to suppress the memory of the finals in '02 to do it.) As far as I can tell, he was always a classy enough guy, never shot a puck into our BENCH or anything like that.
::laugh:: Josh, I know exactly what you mean -- I feel the same way.
It's weird... now that Lenny's playing for Springfield, I find myself hoping for a 0-0 tie any time they play each other. And I know I'll be thinking the same thing if they're up against Chicago or Cleveland (but to my knowledge, they don't play each other this season, unless it's for the Calder Cup)... I always check the rosters of our opponents.
I wonder if that makes me a bad Wolfpack "fan?" ...I like to think it just solidifies my Lynah Faithful-ness.
Correction: I never said that about Dom Moore. Thank you. Though I agree he was/is a tremendous and classy hockey player.

So how do these rumors get started? Did Adam ever even mention (on the air) running into Dom Moore?
