He and a passenger were flying a small Cessna that appeared to have a mechanical issue and crashed in Enfield after taking off from Ithaca Airport. Kornreich was pronounced dead at the scene; passenger was in critical condition and later died from injuries.

Dave was a friend, though not a close one - I've known his wife Alexandra Clinton for longer. They're both Cornell alums, and they attended Cornell hockey games together, including at least one Red Hot. She's also a band alum. I'm still a little bit in shock, but I can't begin to imagine what Alexi is going through right now. Like I don't have enough trouble pondering my mortality, with a much younger wife and having my first kid at 53. Anyway, if you can spare a thought or a prayer for her today, please do.
