Title: Who's number 10
Post by: Jim Hyla on February 24, 2002, 12:01:37 AM
Well 2 games left and our only question is who do we play? As mentioned on another thread, I also would not want to play St. Law.. For my money, I'd pick either PU or Union over either Yale or St. Law..

Isn't Union also a dangerous pick, given our historical performance against them?

Historical record has very little impact on this years team, I think I read somewhere else on the forum that the boys were 9-0-1 against no-ivies this year. So who cares who we play, as long as the seventh man (lynah faithful) are loud then the team will be flying. Just my $0.02

It would actually be in our interest to draw the team with the highest RPI.  Among those that we have a chance to face, that would appear to be Union:

42 Union
50 Yale
52 Princeton
53 St. Lawrence

Actually, it would be better to face the team with the best RPIStr (10 parts winning pct and 3 parts opponents' winning pct), since that's the effective strength of schedule measure.  But Union has the best RPIStr of the lot as well.

Actually actually, the contribution to our SOS is not simply RPIStr, since the winning percentage is calculated with head-to-head games left out, so for instance Princeton's contribution to our strength of schedule would involve a 9-14-2 record (plus whatever they get next weekend) rather than 9-16-2.
