Pretty strong stuff here:
Cornell's taken a lot from us over the years, and there's a lot of rage built in us from that," Palumbo said. "And there's nothing more we wanted [than] to see Cornell. We've wanted it all season since we lost to them the first time. And when this group comes out, you're gonna see a ferocity that frankly I don't think we've seen all year."

If the team comes out with the ferocity that we saw Friday, we'll be fine.
One hopes Princetonians who go into finance /invesment banking, or lesser puruits such as global hegemony, should remember not to energize one's opponent.
I agree. Cornell's defense is playing at a high level and that is without Lohnes at close defense. A comment on Quint Kessinich who was mentioned on Fanlax. I think he does a great of analysis on his calls and I detect no animus from him per Cornell. However don't get me startedon Anish and Carc-the SU frat bros (LOL!!)
yeah folks can be touchy about Quint.
TBH despite doing his weekly rankings, I am not sure how much Ivy League play he is watching week to week. My read is that he has some confirmation bias to keep running with his early season picks (eg. Princeton) and he tends to hyperbole to reinforce the teams he thinks will be playing Memorial Day
Yesterday he talking up Princeton and the ACC teams and being a bit dismissive of the other teams in the mix (Richmond and Cornell noteably). Later in the broadcast though he was voicing that there were 8-10 teams this year that could win it all and no Maryland 2022 or Cornell 2025 team
If we dont feed our grudges in sports, what's the point of being a fan, particularly of the underdog =P
He has his biases, and tends to dismiss "lesser" (in his mind) teams.
I always remember at the tournament in '09 as we were beating up on UVa, a bunch of lax alumni got a cheer going: "Suck it, Quint!...clap, clap, clap, clap, clap...Suck it, Quint!"
In other news, I'm watching the Big 10 final on Big 10 Network right now. Joe Beninati and Mark Dixon are the announcers. They're actually describing the play-by-play on the field and talking about the two teams and the players actually playing the game. They're not talking about dinner, other teams, tournament seedings, or their own memories and histories. It's actually enjoyable to watch.
BTW, Penn State is smacking down Hopkins, 14-7 with about 5 minutes left.
Q is better than he used to be. That is what I will say.

That's fair.
It may be the case that he is critical/honest about all teams where most commentators shy away from criticism, and we only notice it when he's talking about Cornell. He was very critical of Harvard yesterday also.
Yep. Many Hopkins fans are convinced that Quint (a Hopkins alum) hates Hopkins ... :o
I've been running some RPI scenarios. Cornell fans should be rooting for UVa in the ACC final.
I thought of tallying up how many words he gives to each team in his weekly top twenty, especially Hopkins, for whom he played (and was 2X goalie of the year good), then southern teams even if he is a Long Islander by birth. Then realized we're publicizing his ranking.
Kessenich was never easygoing and this Wiki entry suggests same: "On November 29, 2013, Kessenich made national headlines when he interviewed an indignant Bo Pelini at halftime of the Iowa-Nebraska football game telecast on ABC in which the Nebraska coach responded to the reporter's inquiry on a pair of Cornhusker turnovers with "What do you think? What kind of question is that?" The incident came one week after Michigan State Spartans football coach Mark Dantonio snapped at Kessenich during the halftime interview." OTOH coaches are godlike creatures who bristle are being asked tough questions. Woody Hayes nearly retired the trophy.

For seeding purposes I assume.
With Cornell and Virginia wins today, I see Cornell as a number 3 seed, behind ND and Richmond. They deserve to be ahead of Syracuse, but we'll see.
Princeton goalie is on fire.

Yeah stopping some close shots.
Princeton 3-2 after one.
6-2 Tigers >:( Gonna be a tough climb back ...
Cornell making that climb ... 7-5 Tigers at the half
VA beats NC 16-6.
Maybe I missed this in an earlier post, but I'm not having any luck bringing up the streaming broadcast. I have an ESPN subscription (via Disney Plus), but does that not include ESPNU? Anyone else having this issue, or figured out the workaround?
Cornell dominating faceoffs but P goalie having a strong game.

Same issue. They keep asking for a cable subscription key or something.
I think I got through via Hulu in the past, but I no longer have time to watch so I'll just read the threads as usual.
It includes all ESPN. But it was annoying to do the cable verification for WrestleMania

I believe you need an additional sports package
Maybe Tully could make a save.

Unless you want to see a Princeton rout, you aren't missing much

Are we even trying anymore? What is Buscek waiting for to use a TO?
Tigers 6-0 run >:(
We are getting shafted
16-6 end of Q3 ... :'(
Congrats to Princeton, similar to Cornell last year... so many scoring threats.
Tully and Casscadan kept them the game in the 1st half.
Unlike the the Harvard match up, as I feared Marshall got exposed against a more balanced Princeton squad. Love his motor, but he takes risks that dont pay off and gets lost in recovery. Anyone at the game see Lohnes? Dressed? Still on crutches? The wheels were completely off by the middle of 3rd. I dont put too much stock in what happened after that.
Concerning that they figured out something against Casscadan at FO in the 3rd and 4th quarters. We need him to be locked in for the NCAA tournament, and maybe make better decisions in transition. Gave a very hot golaie some easy shots and when he finally looked to pass threw one out of bounds.
I thought Goldstein could make some hay from X... he had his man hung but couldnt get above GLE with his hands free. Opportunity for more 2 man play ? Maybe if you dont have Croddick in goal you net a few more early and change the dynamic
Will be interesting to see what the committee does. With the loss I think Cornell ends up in the 6-9 seed instead of 3-5. Depending on where some of these teams end up in final RPI and how much travel distance/in conference 1st round matchup avoidance comes in to play... I have a bad feeling we will be seeing PSU/UVA/Duke instead of the Army/Georgetown options we might have seen with a win. SU will be close to us in the seeding probably, and they cant play UVA or Duke... so maybe they get PSU and we get an ACC match up the 1st round (but that would be a flight instead of a bus and NC$$ has in the past tried to avoid that)
Quote from: Cornell95 on May 03, 2026, 03:35:11 PMSU will be close to us in the seeding probably, and they cant play UVA or Duke...
Not so, the ACC is not a conference for this purpose. The Committee has had ACC vs ACC in the first round in the past (long ago, can't tell you the year off hand).
Final RPI is here:

Princeton #1, Cornell #5
I missed the game because of a family obligation. Looks like a good one to miss. How did they score 19 on our defense?

Quite easily.
There are 30 minutes of "highlights" on youtube if you want to see. Not gonna link to it!
3rd Quarter was brutal. Princeton had possession of the ball for a majority of 3rd Quarter on faceoffs and groundballs and that grinds down the defense. Princeton deserves #1 seed IMO.

I have the same problem. Turns out that ESPN changed its configuration, removed ESPNU from the bundle, and moved it to a higher, more costly one. Apparently they sent a notice about this last August, but it was vague, legalese, and did not spell out what you would no longer be getting. To add injury to the insult, they just kept on charging me for something that had become useless to me.
Turns out my cable TV (Cox) was giving me a package with ESPNU, so I had the game and paid double for it.
Screw this. We really need reform in how cable & streaming sell their products.

Basically every possession
