Thought I'd start this topic off a bit early with an update on current commitments
Luke Kennevan, 6'4" Shooting Guard: Transfer from D2 Lock Haven, where he averaged 10.1/4.3/2.5 on 49.8/39.7/73.2% shooting. Seems super random honestly, but then again Cornell is faced with a lot of recruiting limitations. Super curious about what the coaching staff saw and how he'll pan out.
Carson Davis, 6'8" Power Forward: Brings some much needed size to a team that really lacked a true big last year. All time leading scorer at Meigs HS (OH). Also had offers from Air Force, Jackson State, and six D2 schools.
Quinn Gibson, 6'6" Small Forward: Joins Cornell after a postgrad year at Winchendon. Offered his senior year by D2 West Chester
Mikehi Williams, 6'6" Small Forward: Also had offers from Lehigh, Campbell, Rice, Arkansas-Pine Bluff, South Carolina State, Georgia Southern, and two D2 schools.
Trey Williams, 6'3" Point Guard. Also had offers from Dartmouth and Navy.
Sage Mateo, 6'2" Point Guard. Also had offers from Brown and Columbia.

I wonder if this kid applied to transfer after pulling good grades without a ton of Athletics intervention and is effectively a preferred walk-on.

They posted pictures on Instagram and my lord do these kids look like scrubs. I don't have high hopes for next year but hopefully a couple of them pop and we can build around them
Need more height in the front court. Maybe they'll be able to look at transfers.

On paper Williams looks like the best of the bunch, but it often doesn't play out that way.

For the same reason that the NFL Draft does not hold my interest I will wait until these gentlemen actually take the Court to see how they turn out. If they turn out OK let us also hope they value the education and not be tempted by the portal. Am a bit concerned that Jacques is not recruiting at the same level that his predecessor did-time will tell.

Graham moves to Drexel as an assistant coach, went to Penn ('97), has been an assistant coach for two decades now.

Per Verbal Commits, Cornell picked up 2027 6'5" shooting guard Caden Ivory out of Columbus, OH. Ivory had offers from Brown, BU, Air Force, Canisius, and Western Michigan. He's rated a 3* recruit and a top 30 combo guard nationally by 247 Sports, so looks like an excellent get for us.

Call me a little uneasy about the Out of Conference schedule. Ivy teams have always swam across the tide in basketball given lack of athletic scholarships. Now the gap is being widened by the NIL, transfer portal, and the 5 year rule. On the plus side one could say that they are probably getting good guarantee checks from Syracuse, St. Bonaventure, Gonzaga, and Washington. I see the women are playing UConn and Syracuse-same reasoning I guess but taking a beating on the court. Will state that the Ivies have one positive to sell to recruits-no organized summer practices.

I'm excited to see us play top notch teams. I'll be at the Syracuse game for one. The game @ Michigan State last year was extremely competitive, we had them on the ropes for hte first half. Glad to see the program get paid and get some exposure.

That's cool. I'd only go if we're in it, but considering I live about 2 miles from there it's damn convenient.
It also screws Harvard fans, so that's just a bonus.

So Ivy Madness moves to Allentown, Pa., for the 2028 basketball tournaments, men and women both. Dartmouth then Harvard are the longest distances, 5:45 and 340 miles for Dartmouth, 5:15 and 293 miles for Harvard, Penn and Princeton are just over an hour away. Cornell is in the middle: 2:45 and 160 miles.
Harvard students concerned about the long slog by car, good news: Your charter lets you off at Lehigh Valley Aviation Services and it's just 15 minutes in the Uber Elite to the PPL Center.
For the Ivies playing at away (regular season), the longest distance is Dartmouth - Penn, 6 hours and 360 driving miles.

Pretty unfortunate thing I noticed is that out of 11 home games agsinst D1 opponents, 7 are on days where nobody will attend (1 the night beofre thanksgiving break, 1 during finals, 3 during winter break, 2 during february break).
Good schedule though, interesting opponents, seems promising.

Penn has really used the transfer portal to rise to the top of the Ivy League quickly.

Penn is hosting the tournament at the Palestra this season. The move to Allentown doesn't happen until after that.
