BACK TO PLACID! Forward march!!! Let's get this bread!
now safe to say: i went to the cornell schedule to see what time today's game was and it already listed princeton as our next opponent without any "if necessary" disclaimers. i'd have taken that to my grave.

Any word yet on which section(s) will be the Cornell sections and when the sale that uses that code will start tomorrow?

That's fair.
We do like sitting in the Cornell corner, despite the fact that compared to our seats at Lynah at center ice, the view will suck.
I just got my tickets.
And as Robb suggests, I don't care where they are. They're a door pass.
The only downside to Quinnipiac not being at Lake Placid:

Cornell has won its last 8 consecutive ECAC playoff rounds. The school record is 13 (http://www.tbrw.info/?/games/cornell_ECAC_Series_Icon.html) (1967-1971).
The "fan zone" ticket sale opened at noon. Cornell is section 16. The password is Cornell26 and GoBigRed. It looks like they blocked some rows for player family and other VIPs.
2026 ECAC HOCKEY MEN'S CHAMPIONSHIP - Lake Placid Olympic Center https://share.google/UCxdNby2G8PtDfztr
Interestingly shortly before the sale opened they had released some of the back row tickets in the Princeton and Dartmouth sections. I'm thinking they may have been holding those in our section and Clarkson's section for the bands.

Interestingly they released all the passwords -
Section 3: Princeton | Princeton26, GoTigers
Section 11: Dartmouth | Dartmouth26, GoBigGreen
Section 16: Cornell | Cornell26, GoBigRed
Section 24: Clarkson | Clarkson26, LetsGoTech
For your use. I mean... these are the most easy to guess passwords ever though, so.
Anyone know why?

Because there's an entire Ticket Exchange section of eLynah for such posts.
I'd expect this to be a tough game. Princeton may not be the most skilled team overall but they've played Cornell tough in both previous games. A multi-goal lead would go a long way.

I believe Ben replaced Casey, and then Casey replaced Ben, but they've never been on the same staff at the same time.
Yes. And Ben Syer knows all the guys in the recruiting pipeline, on the team now, had the same mentor as Casey, and coached against him, for many years. He knows just about everything about Coach Jones.

To a degree, but Jones didn't coach at Princeton. I'm sure they are after the same types of players, but presumably, Seyer recruited half our team, or was directly involved.
Apparently there is going to be a pre-game gathering in Saranac Lake. It starts at 4:00 PM on Friday. Kim and I will be at the arena by then, watching the Clarkson - Dartmouth game, so we'll pass, but...

For anyone coming into Placid off 87, through Keene on 73...
...leave yourselves -A LOT- of extra time! It's snowing and the roads are particularly slippery. This coming from an Ithaca native used to driving in this stuff. (Kim is driving, but...)
Our original ETA into town was about 2:30PM. At this point GPS is showing we've lost close to an hour, and it's getting worse.
Edit: We've passed at least half a dozen cars that have slid off the road or into other cars.

Seconding. It's getting snowy as hell here. Passing Grove Point right now.
First crash is about 1.5 miles from exit 29.

Crash 2 just south of North Hudson. Woof.
The streets in town aren't great but at least they're plowed. Safe travels all.!
Weird feeling not needing to win the ECAC to make the NCAAs, and coming off back to back championships. Feels like house money to me. Which is a good thing, to be clear—-but I feel no anxiety. That will be very different next weekend.

Clarkson band in the upper bowl, as expected.
Dartmouth up 1-0.
2-0 Dartmouth. Guy coming in from the middle of the blue line and two Clarkson defenders parted like the red sea to let him skate straight in.

My updates are not nearly up to your level, Stereax. Very minimal.
People have to watch that second Dartmouth goal, though. It was right in front of the Cornell section and was absolutely ridiculous.

Funniest defense ever. I don't know why either of the two Clarkson defenders didn't step up to at least contest the shot.

Any word on the band?
Everyone enjoy Lake Placid. A bit under the weather this week, so we're watching from Ithaca.
We've spent a fair amount of time in Lake Placid over the years beginning in 1970 with the Cornell NCAA championship games in the 1932 Arena. Many great memories including the 1980 Olympics and then being able to bring our boys to the ECAC Tournament at the Olympic Arena for their first time in 1996 (Schafer's 1st ECAC Championship).
Lake Placid is a wonderful small town. LGR

On the broadcast, I'm hearing a somewhat vocal "anti-Cornell" contingent. I'm guessing that might be Clarkson fans hanging around after their game rather than a decent showing of Princeton fans?
Casty crimes.
End 1st. I really need Stanley and Casty to stop getting into shit after the whistle.
Princeton with an aggressive forecheck and looking for stretch passes. Syer's done a great job with them. We're doing a good job blocking shots.
Great kill. Loved Long fending off four Tigers at once.

This team is a BITCH to play against.
1-2.
We look like we're sleepwalking through this period.
Princeton taking it to us the 1st 7 minutes of the 2nd. More speed and winning the puck battles consistently
Princeton is out-Cornelling Cornell on faceoffs.
In the words of Nikita Grebenkin... forecheck, backcheck, paycheck. Holy shit do the Tigers check. Hopefully they're worn out by the third...
Poor Gio.
OH CAPTAIN MY CAPTAIN
Walsh!!!
Amazing what happens when they finally start shooting the puck FFS
Necessary penalty to take.
Bad chance at the end to give up, but otherwise, the team seemed to get over the bad chicken they must have eaten and played better at the end of the period.

What is going on at the dots?!?
"Princeton looks coked up" the missus.
Looks like their hearts aren't in it this year after winning 2 straight
We need to stop farting around with the puck on every rush and put it on net. Good things happen.
I also suggest outlawing drop passes for the rest of the season.
I can't tell whether Smith bobbled the puck or what, but that was a great finish by Walsh and well needed after a mostly bad 2nd period
I'm ready to crush Princeton's heart this period. They have hope; but we are stronger, faster, better. Just like Zane Kalemba in 2009, it's time to ruin Arthur Smith forever.
Not woofing. Just time to GO!
Win another period, win the game.
I'd say a good way of doing that is to actually be the first team to touch the puck when it enters our offensive zone. We barely did that in the 2nd. We kept dumping/passing to the team wearing black.
Someone has to keep Dartmouth from actually getting a year below their sign. Do you trust Princeton to do that??
