The pregame has started on the radio...
Coach is talking up Moulson's line, especially the pass Moulson received from Bitz on his goal.
Glover has been banged up--coach was really happy with his effort and his hits last night.
Wow! Coach was right about the top line! 7 points and a hat trick for Vesce tonight!
Post Edited (11-08-03 21:17)
woohoo! Thank God I can type fast! ;-)
Before tonight begins, does anyone know how Glover looked in his first game last night? He was a fairly highly touted recruit.
Can only tell you what coach said and what I heard last night...sounded like he impressed. I'm sure many will have full weekend reports when they return from travelling.
There's a cool lunar eclipse going on right now if you want to check it out at the breaks
No changes in the lineup for us tonight from last night.
The goalie for Princeton is 0-12 through his career. ::pain::
just ran outside...very cool...look to the East (I think)
Bitz shot one over LaRue's shoulder and just missed...the Faithful have already pulled out a Princeton sucks cheer :-D
Princeton going on the PP (too many men on the ice)
Post Edited (11-08-03 19:12)
Too many men on the ice-->powerplay for Princeton.
5-3 for Princeton for 1:43...OByrne goes to the box
Anyone know if there is a free audio link for this game out there someplace? Or does anyone know how to hook their stereo into their computer and shoutcast the radio broadcast? :-D
I take it there is no opposing team's audio feed tonight? It appears that wprb http://www.wprb.com/ broadcast the games in the past, but not even the princeton athletics site has anything about audio...just football information. Well I will go watch the eclipse instead! (and check back for occasional score updates)
Post Edited (11-08-03 19:15)
Hornby was serving the bench minor...15 seconds left on the 5 on 4. An in the crease call helped us during the 5 on 3
back to even strength. sounded like some good penalty killing
QuoteField '04 wrote:

Glover looked really solid to me against Yale.
didn't hear the penalty...radio went out for a second
Knoepfli cheated somehow...hooking?
Even strength as Knoepfli threatened coming out of the box
penalty over; Knoepfli had a decent chance coming out of the box...
...and McKee makes a nice save at the other end.
oh for god's sake.
another penalty called on Cornell (Downs for boarding)
Post Edited (11-08-03 19:25)
Harvard sucking so far. 1-0 Dartmouth. Shots 8-1 for Green. But Harvard getting a power play.
this is getting very tiring...four penalties in nine minutes...Boarding this time...come on McKee! Keep it up!
who are the officials for this game?
Cam threatened short handed, got up ended but no call
Back to even strength....Princeton 0 for 4 on the PP
Back to even strength. Princeton is 0-4 on the PP. Well I suppose this helps our 77% penalty kill stat....
Vesce
Vesce buried one during the commercial!!!
wooo Vesce!!! :-)
1-0
Vesce's 3rd goal of the season.
Assist - Moulson
Vesce 3 (Moulson 6)
11:46 Vesce (Moulson)
much nicer :-)
I'm guessing no one knows...I didn't catch it during the pregame
:)
Adam, you could change the subject heading of your original post so we could just reply to that.
I can't seem to get into the chat tonight... is warped.net not working? ::help::
BITZ SCORES
BITZ SCOOOOORE!!!!
Bitz!!! Wow, he has been awesome! LaRue saved Vesces poke and Bitz cleaned it up
Bitz slams a rebound in...4th goal of the season!!!
No wonder Schafer's high on 'em.B-]
14:47 Bitz (Vesce).
Our first line of Bitz, Vesce, and Moulson has just been awesome. Moulson, by the way, has averaged 2.67 points a game so far. That leads the nation.
Yay, finally a PP :-D
Score from Cook!!!!

Cook's first of the season, a PP goal :-D
GOAL!!!
15:59 Cook (Vesce, Moulson)

Who's in goal for Cornell tonight?
Vesce robbed by Leroux early in the PP
McKee
End of 1st period
McKee's in net. We'll be on PP for first 1:05 of 2nd.
Wow, this has been a fun game so far...lots of PP's and thank God, Princeton has gone 0 for 4.

Does Charlie Cook have any fans?
Anyone else notice that the clock on the eLynah server seems to be about 10 minutes fast?
score! Vesce.
Deflection off of Vesce!!
1:05 Vesce (Hynes, Knoepfli)
4 on 4 now for 2 mins...
Vesce (Hynes, Knoepfli)
[Q]Anyone else notice that the clock on the eLynah server seems to be about 10 minutes fast?[/Q]
I told Age and he said he didn't care :-). Take it up with the man :-). He's not online, so I guess he's at Princeton... so I don't think this mention will catch his attention.
What's up dude...you go to Yale yesterday?
does anyone feel sorry for Princeton?
Of the 17 Cornell goals scored so far this season, Vesce, Moulson or Bitz have gotten a point on 14 of them.
umm, no.
Not as sorry as I felt for Texas A&M
unfortunately, couldn't get a ride down
Icing! Woohoo!! ;-)
Is Princeton trying to calm things down or are we sitting back?
Post Edited (11-08-03 20:15)
I feel like the McCutcheon-Pegoraro-Carefoot line gets, by far, the least ice time....
McKee saved a nice backhander on a one on one
PP for the Tigers (Downs for something)
> I feel like the McCutcheon-Pegoraro-Carefoot line gets, by far, the least ice time....
that's probably the case - but i'm guessing that Schaefer is just trying to get Vesce his hat trick
Post Edited (11-08-03 20:19)
Age just let the cowbell go...I assume that was Age...
guess it's not Age...he's in #lynah
what's #lynah?

irc chat room
It is another ACM in the chatroom!
Leroux robs Cam Abbott...
...Abbott hit from behind after the play and he apparently hobbles off the ice
We must be on the PP...
Cam put it behind Leroux but Leroux was able to reach behind and grab it. Cam then got leveled and limped off the ice.
Yeah, I post too quickly...
Schafer mixing up the Power Play units
Moulson gets it over Leroux's stick!!!
Hynes was ready to pounce on the loose puck but didn't have to.
Post Edited (11-08-03 20:27)
Wow, they're filling the net this weekend :-)
Wow, you had that posted about 30 seconds before I heard it on the b'cast :-)
sorry, I'll slow down a little.... B-]
It was Moulson from Vesce (5th point of the night!) and Hynes
it's a romp. maybe cornell defense should lighten up and let princeton score.
Man, those Abbotts must have some telepathy between them :-)
Avash, I want to get you into the irc chat room...
go to http://www.irchelp.org/irchelp/mirc and download mIRC
Install and run mIRC and fill out your login info...use a fake email address if you want. Close mIRC and then run irc://irc.warped.net/lynah
how's cook doing. i'm a fan.
Thanks Adam; appreciate the link....
I'll be there for the next game :)
no worries...you were being asked about :-)
Four straight for UNH. Now 6-3 Wildcats minutes into the 2nd period.
wow, and someone said that you are reporting Harvard is up 2-1?
Cook scored the third goal on the PP
avash,
you can just go to the warped website and join the chat using your browser, you don't need a standalone irc program.

Two second period goals by Tom Cavanagh put Harvard up. Dartmouth really fading. But twenty minutes to go.
OByrne takes another penalty...PP for Princeton
Dartmouth ties it at two with 15 minutes to go.
GO CORNELL YOUR WINNING!!!!!!:-P :-)
glover scores !!!
Post Edited (11-08-03 20:58)
Glover off of the faceoff during the commercial! Another point for Vesce! 6 tonight!
Penalty on Princeton when Gleed gets smacked in the head.
apparently another goal during the break
from vesce and gleed at 6:38
Bring in the reserves for the PP....sounds like Carefoot is getting some time
O'Byrne heads back to the box...Princeton's 6th PP
Geez, I think O'Byrne has a thing for the penalty box guy
maybe it's not a guy...
Even strength as Gleed wobbles off the ice
Age pulls out the cowbell!
Post Edited (11-08-03 21:05)
is the cu defense killing princeton? or is the princeton offense doa?
Okay, I'm out...I think it's safe to head to collegetown now...Great weekend Red!
Highest scoring weekend last year was 14 against Vermont and Dartmouth at Lynah. Second highest was 10 at Vermont and Dartmouth.
16 goals total against Vermont last year. ::help::
Boy Moulson has been quiet this period :-P
....seriously now though, Hornby has been pretty quiet this weekend.
I'm so happy that we are winning! Go SAMELA!!!! :-P
Well, with it being 6-0, I'd say we are controlling every aspect of the game. It sounds like McKee hasn't had to make too many amazing saves to keep the donut on the board.
Vesce? HAT TRICK?!?
VESCE HAT TRICK!!!!!!
Post Edited (11-08-03 21:11)
:-P GO CORNELL!!!!:-D ::starwars::
Hat Trick!!!
/me tosses his hat onto the ice ;)

7 points! ::twitch::
::banana:: WE GOT A GOAL!!!!! YEAH!!!::banana::
::banana:: 7-0 GO VESCE!!! GO CROENLL YOU CAN DO IT!!::banana::
yup! 7 points! so nasty!
thanks for the info. Go Cornell!
I'm alone in my room, but I did toss my cap to the ground ::nut::
Unbelievable game (so far!) by Vesce.
Time to dig out the archives and find out when the last time a Cornell player had this many points! And this game isn't over yet!
sorry to break your heart but I believe Samela isn't dressed for this weekend
The Faithful is chanting "Ryan Vesce"
So so sweet
McKee holds on for his first career shutout!!
Wow! What a game!
Good to see that we have some excellent offense so far this year, and our defense completely shut things down tonight. McKee did great and earned the shutout, since there was a few occasions where Princeton could have scored but he made terriffic stops.
Post Edited (11-08-03 21:19)
my 3 stars:
1. Vesce
2. McKee
3. Moulson
great game.
[Q]GO CROENLL[/Q]
Are they in the same league with Brom? :-P
listening to the end of D'mouth/Harvard now, going OT (2-2 still I think):
http://mmslb.eonstreams.com/surferwfrd.asf
Fantastic game. Vesce's 7 points on 7 Cornell goals is right up there with the all-time great Cornell performances. The Big Red record is 8 points, accomplished 6 times, but those games were far higher scoring:
Lance Nethery 8 on 11: http://members.cox.net/tbrw/boxScores/box19770119.html
Doug Ferguson 8 on 19 (6 goals): http://members.cox.net/tbrw/boxScores/box19650113.html
Brian Cornell 8 on 14: http://members.cox.net/tbrw/boxScores/box19680217.html
Mike Doran 8 on 15 on 11/25/65 vs York.
Mike Doran 8 on 11 (the next game, 2 nights later!): http://members.cox.net/tbrw/boxScores/box19651127.html
Larry Fullan 8 on 12 on 2/26/72 vs. Princeton.

Things getting very interesting in the ECAC early in the season...
Clarkson beat Union 4-1 earlier too.
2-2 tie. Final.
Yale 3-2 over Colgate in OT. Only one unbeaten, untied team in the ECAC.:-P
And with Dartmouth's tie tonight, yet another season will pass with no D1 team matching Cornell's perfect 29-0-0 season.
QuoteChris '02 wrote:

That one's about as safe as Ruth's record of hitting more home runs than every other team in the league.
Maine gave it a helluva look in '93.
Cornell is outright #1 in the ECAC in points and percentage.
We should forever be thankful to BU.
What's up with O'Byrne??? 4 penalties tonight is more than Noah Welch has all season... :-/
QuoteGreg Berge '85 wrote:

Right. They made it to their second game, when they tied Providence.
When was the last time somebody put up 7?
USCHO has a picture on Vesce on its front page, but is that a picture from last year? I don't see the captain's "C" on his jersey.
Yeah that's a picture from last year; I noticed that too. It also has that blue Frozen Four patch on his right shoulder area.
A single two-week period early in 1978 saw three separate 7-point performances by Cornell players, all at Lynah Rink. Each time, the Cornell player scored two goals and added five assists. Lance Nethery started the string on January 14 in a 13-3 shellacking of Boston College, Dave Ambrosia matched it in a 13-1 victory over Yale on the 21st, and Nethery did it again as Cornell beat Pennsylvania 11-2 a week later.
Nobody else scored seven points for Cornell until Ryan Vesce did it last night, more than 25 years later.
(It would not be correct to say that Cornell had seven-point performances in three straight games, however, as the Red also beat Clarkson 10-2 at Walker Arena on January 18, and topped Princeton 7-6 at Lynah on the 25th during that period.)

Man, tough crowd.
I had misremembered Maine's late loss to BU spoiling a perfect record.
But speaking of... what
is the longest anybody has gone perfect since 1970?

I'm reasonably sure that the most
recent was St. Lawrence in 1999-2000, who went 8-0-0 before Cornell beat them at Lynah, 4-0 (chant: "One perfect season! No perfect seasons!"). I have a hard time imagining that nobody else has gotten past eight games since 1970 - but Cornell certainly didn't, not even in the early 1970s. Anybody?

In reading this board after the game I noticed that two goals were scored while the broadcast was still in commercial. Was this RealAudio or i2 video? You posters seemed to take it much better than I would have.
(FOX kept missing the first pitch during the playoffs, and it was driving me crazy. Can you imagine if they came back after Boone's swing?)
[Q]Was this RealAudio or i2 video?[/Q]
Once agian, i2sports only does home games... people will remember it eventually :-).
And it wasn't just RealAudio, of course, it was WHCU . Same thing happened on the AM signal.

For those of us who sometimes listen to the broadcast while watching a home game, we realize how much after a faceoff can be missed. I believe it was Greg who commented on the same a couple of years ago when one could watch the hockey cam and listen to the broadcast.
QuoteAdam Brown '03 wrote:

Umm. That's an impressive trick, since Age was standing next to me last night in Baker Rink. B-]
(Age has no middle initial. ACM is everyone's favorite PA announcer Arthur.)
Adam was blaming it on the "15-seconds-and-then-drop-the-puck-no-matter-what" rule.
Which apparently is now 18 seconds or something.
Sorry folks. I know none of us like missing goals, believe me. ... We need to get in 2 30-second spots per period -- which we cut down from 3 last year. When there's 7 goals, of course the odds increase of missing one. :-) ... With the 18-second rule (was 15 last year), you try to time these things as best you can - wait for neutral-zone draws, etc... The first goal was off a draw in the Cornell end. You figure you're safe in terms of missing a Cornell goal. ... But they won the faceoff and Vesce just bolted down the ice and scored. ... The second one was an offensive zone draw. You try to avoid those, but we were running way behind in spots. ... Many schools with less popular support don't sell many ads, and don't take breaks during periods. The teams that sell out all their ad time have to squeeze in breaks during the periods.
NHL games also have the 15-second rule these days - but all those games are also on TV - so there's mandatory TV timeouts. Either 3 or 4 per period.
