On my screen at least so far the stream seems like a herky-jerky silent film.

Right before we went on the power play Castagna made a fantastic deke past a defender and went in alone on Shea, but missed the net.

Castagna leveled by a Brown defender just past center ice, to the delight of the announcer who all but ignored Long going in on a 2-on-1 and beating Shea to tie the game.

Before getting decked Castagna got the puck to Ryan (I believe) who dished a lovely saucer pass to Long, who made an equally terrific shot over Shea's glove hand.

And said defender put himself out of position with that hit, which is exactly why Cornell had an odd-man rush in the first place.

It's games like this where I lament the shuttering of the radio product. A few weeks ago I was on a road trip and had no way to listen. ESPN app wouldn't connect to the car audio system for even the broadcast audio.

A fun McNally fact: (https://x.com/i/status/2017745665388904890)

The top line of Kraft-Walsh-DiGiulian has been ... *checks notes* ... dominant.

The three have combined for 11 even-strength points in the last eight periods. That doesn't include Kraft's two goals against Dartmouth, which came SH/OT.

We challenged and lost. They just kept showing the contact with Digiulian, but the announcer knew that wasn't what was being reviewed, since it was Cornell challenging for a penalty.

Awesome game by the guys!!
The announcer seems to focus on the size of our team!!

My head still hurts from watching the feed from the game, but does this make sense to anyone? Wouldn't it be 7 points? Or is it me and my math ain't mathin'

Kraft's assist on DiGiulian's first second-period goal extended his point streak to four games, matching his career high that was set during his freshman year from Jan. 27 – Feb. 9, 2024. During his current point streak, Kraft has six points (4-3—7).

Totally agree. I would've paid good money to be leaning over Casey's shoulder when Alexis decided to go full goalie-goal hero. We'll probably never know... unless, of course, Keopple shows up in net Friday for Colgate.

Besides, up 4-1, I think it's fine. Ill advised, of course, but.

Instead—how about XV ripping another power-play bomb?

And Ryan's missile the other night, after that silky give-and-go with Stanley (pretty sure it was Stanley).

Loved those moments from our two youngest Red.

Gillam scored his when we were only up 3-2 and he had a Niagara player almost on him, but he got rid of the puck very quickly and wasn't stuck behind the net: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=gQD8PmqQs_I

I am very pleased with their effort this weekend.  There was a big difference in skill set between them and their opponents but they just went about their business without incident.

The freshmen continue to be the story.  DiGiulian gets his goals in chunks.  Imagine when he figures out how to get to more consistency as his game continues to mature.  He has had a terrific nose for the net.

How many of Veilleux's goals have come in near the dots?

Long has showed a nice ability to finish since he got going.

So much depth to fawn over.

Yes, and would we have gotten this freshman class if Casey hadn't come on as associate coach last year? And would that smooth transition had happened if Cornell didn't have such a strong legacy? How many coaches would have given up a head coaching job for a year? We are reaping the rewards of decades of consistent hard work, strong community support, and having the gift of two head coaches who worked well together and have embraced the vision.

That was exactly the game I was thinking of. I remember it all too well — watching on ESPN about an hour behind, feeling great after Andreev's third-period goal made it 4–0. Then I realized the game was still going in real time, wtf! I was hoping it was an ESPN issue, but no. Clarkson scored four straight and won it in the shootout.

Cournoyer is awesome — no question — and he's been getting better every game. But his body language said everything when that behind-the-net shot died on the Brown defender's chest and he had to scramble back into position.

Yeah, imagine what it was like in person.

That's permanently imprinted in my brain.

Just like a playoff 0-0 tie at Clarkson 35+ years ago. Yes, a playoff tie.

1989

Clarkson was 4 and we were 5. So played at the old Walker Arena.

I believe it was 2 points for a win & 1 each for a tie and I believe no OT.
If needed, the third game being a 10 minute game immediately after the second game.
We won the first 5-3 (Thanks TBRW, since I couldn't remember date or score)

Second game was 0-0 in the third period. I don't remember how soon, but Clarkson pulled their goalie in the tie game, because they'd lose the round if they tied. Fortunately they  didn't score and we advanced with a tie game.

Strange indeed!

There are a few of those games that are permanently ground into my brain.

It's amazing how many were against Clarkson, eg. 1970 ECAC & NCAA Finals with BU in second place for memories.

Absolutely devastating.

That said, Big Red fans also have plenty of great moments from that season etched into our brains. That season alone gave us the sweep of North Dakota and the two wins over Q-Pak.

Thanks for the story, Jim.
