Overall happy with our recruiting.
Interestingly he said that players being recruited today are not fixed on what year they'll attend. Most of them realize that they will come when the coaches feel they're ready to play, not before.
The recruiting has been pretty good recently.

I appreciate this post as I am unable to attend these lunches. However, I would suggest waiting until after the weekend to post them, as they contain intel for the opposing team. For example, Dartmouth now knows who the opposing goalie will be.
Relatedly, injury status should not be posted at any point.

BearLover, I'm surprised you didn't express your frustration about Casey's recruiting comment that Jim posted.

I hope Bear Lover wasn't at the luncheon or else he would have thrown his shoe at Casey for that comment.
Not really. The coach obviously isn't going to tell an audience of boosters that recruiting stinks.

Another thing is that I'm not sure it's a good idea to publicly air grievances with specific coaches or referees, as funny as that may be. I think the things Casey says at these lunches are intended to stay within the walls of the lunch.

Not sure this was really in question in the first place, but Casey seems to have a slightly different view of the goalies than, for instance, I do.

I have been under the same impression.
I've been going to these lunches for several years, and have been loathe to share anything I hear there here, unless it is completely innocuous. And even then I have been careful. For example, a couple of weeks back Stereax had suggested that Cournoyer didn't get the Saturday start because of the late injury Friday night. I posted something about the fact that Casey had said he was likely to platoon the goalies again, without saying where I heard that. It was the luncheon. (Ironically just today he did say that that may have been a small factor, even though he had originally (before the weekend) said he was likely to platoon them.)
Jim - I think you know I have the utmost respect for you. I just agree that I think there is an unwritten rule that the stuff we hear at the luncheons is not intended to be publicized.

Still batting 1.000 🥳
(For future reference, this is a lighthearted joke 💜 but interesting that Casey mentioned that today. Courns did
not look comfortable on the ice that Saturday during warmups and kinda limped off the ice after the salute. But thank God it was minor enough that he was able to play the next weekend.)

Well, it kind of came up as part of an answer to the overall goalie question.
If I had to assign percentages to what he had planned and the injury issue, based on how he worded things today, I'd say I now think it was 10% due to the injury, and 90% due to what he had planned before the weekend. In fairness, before today I would have said 100% due to what he had planned and 0% due to the injury, so the needle definitely moved.

Gotcha gotcha. That definitely makes sense!

I agree especially with the info about opposing coaches and maybe refs. Although that has been said to me many times, I shouldn't essentially quote Casey.
So I'll delete the post now for whatever it's worth. If not seen by now, I doubt people will search for the unedited version.
So why don't the rest of you who quoted me, delete as well.

please stop taking all of this opsec so seriously. i think everyone plans for cournoyer and if they get keopple they say "this guy gives up more rebounds so be ready to pounce."
