Wonder if there will be any lineup changes. I would guess Cournoyer gets this start at least

I second this motion!
This game seems to be starting at 6:00 PM.
I checked yesterday and the main part of the Cornell schedule showed it as a 6:00 PM start, but the "next game" area showed it as 7:00 PM, so I assumed the 6:00 PM time was a mistake. Checking again just now (just before 6:00 PM) the Cornell site now has both times as 6:00 PM. ESPN has the "starting soon" banner up.
Edit: ESPN has the pregame now. (6:01 PM)
Nice drone flyover of Amherst. Pretty town.

Great win. I thought we got outplayed tonight so I'm no longer mad about yesterday. A split is a fantastic result for a young team yet to grow into itself.
That pass from Walsh on the last goal was fantastic, instead of forcing a tough angle shot he waited and then made a great pass. Of freshmen, Cournoyer, Ryan, and of course DiGiulian impressed me a lot this weekend. Also seems like Fisher can be a very solid defensive defenseman and Veilleux a good piece on offense.

Don't count the goals before the pucks are in the net. Great win but a ricochet and a 5X3 score don't yet prove the powerplay is fixed.

Good job defensively to hold off UMass for much of the game. The tide turned once UMass started its parade to the penalty box in the 3rd
That kid Digiulian knows where to go to score goals! The penalty kill did a great job of getting sticks on the puck and in the lanes. Stanley got caught watching that guy make that move and lost his coverage on the UMASS goal. Cournoyer wastes little movement and looks so calm. Ryan had a couple of really nifty plays. In the second he got a puck in his skates and still got off a hard shot through a defender that was draped on him. Then in the third on a breakout he quickly got rid of a puck, saucing it over a forechecker's stick and out of the zone onto the tape of Walsh. I enjoyed that high end zone camera. It really showed how quickly Cornell was moving on their power play. They are wearing down the defense (like their guy said) unlike the back and forth at the top of the zone we have seen in the past that doesn't force the defense to move. It's probably going to be weird to travel right back out that way next week. I'm really pleased with two near complete efforts. Hopefully they can keep checking off firsts for all these new guys. Is it Friday yet?

We'll have to raise (raze) the roof to get that kind of angle at Lynah. What did that end of the ice look like to those who have been to that arena? Is there seating clear up there on that end?
Yes, seating all the way. Capacity for hockey about 8500. Attendance Friday about 3300 according to USCHO, but arena looked and felt empty. Plenty of places for good camera locations. Their pep band was big, loud, and sounded great. They also had a cowbell, which they played to our traditional beat.
Also, there is another regular season game that starts before 7 (randomly the game at Brown later in the season) but nothing else at an oddly earlier time. I completely missed the first period because I thought this game was a 7 PM start.

I almost missed the start, and I had checked the Cornell site after the game on Friday night.
Earlier in the week I had noticed the 6:00 PM on the Cornell site. I didn't hear any mention of that during Friday's broadcast, so after the game I checked the Cornell site again. The main entry still said 6:00 PM, but the "Next Game" entry at the top of the page had the standard 7:00 PM time listed, so I figured the 6:00 PM in the other spot was just a mistake.
On a whim, at about 5:58 PM yesterday I looked again, and at that time the "Next Game" entry had been changed to 6:00 PM.
I rushed to get ESPN up. And had the "game will start soon" banner.
At that point I posted in the Friday night game thread, and then decided to also start a specific thread, hoping it may help some people who just didn't know.
Sorry, for your sake, that I hadn't figured it out earlier.
You would think that the announcers on Friday night might have thought to mention the odd start time for the next night at some point during the broadcast. Perhaps they did, and I just missed it.

The one thing they messed up with this view is that they didn't zoom in close enough. If it was zoomed so that it showed roughly half the ice surface instead of the entirety, and moved up and down the rink with the action, that would have been better.
I've seen some European soccer matches on ESPN offer the regular game feed, the Spanish feed, and then a third feed that is called either the tactical or coaches view. The tactical feed shows the high end of field view; the same as that high camera on the UMass broadcast.
I'd love the opportunity to have the alternate feed available for the whole game. Or offered as a split screen where you can see the regular game view on the left ⅔ of the screen and the tactical view in the right ⅓.
There's no reason we couldn't mount a similar camera at lynah.

Thanks. I was too lazy to look back at it. I'm glad they did away with the rule where you still got the power play even if you scored. That never seemed to benefit Cornell
That camara angle was like video game view. In some ways more natural, like you'd see in the ice (only higher)
UMass is a really good team - I watched a couple games of theirs this season before the weekend and I'm glad we came away with a split. They're dangerous, and our young team kept up, for the most part. I'll take it.

Honestly, it drove me nuts. If I wanted to know what the game looks like from the wrong end of a pair of binoculars deep in the nosebleeds I'd do it in person.
I liked the overhead view. It provided a much better perspective of the teams' formations. I didn't think it was overused.
The announcers were fantastic. The feed quality was great in general.
Cournoyer had an extremely impressive debut. He looked calm and steady throughout. On 34 shots he got beat a single time, on the highlight reel UMass goal that wasn't his fault. I don't recall any flailing around or misplaying the puck.
The PP seemed to make an effort to work the puck down low, but that may have just been something the UMass PK was content to allow so we'll have to see if it keeps up.
Walsh's passing was pretty amazing on Saturday even if he missed the mark on his shots.
Overall an auspicious start to the season.

I thought the whole broadcast was very good but this stood out to me too. I'd have loved to see more of it. Gives you a much better sense of spacing and movement than the typical angles.
Honestly, it drove me nuts. If I wanted to know what the game looks like from the wrong end of a pair of binoculars deep in the nosebleeds I'd do it in person.
My ideal seat in an NHL arena is way up so that I can keep everyone in my sight. I like watching guys get into position. I like being able to see things before they happen. It's not always easy on TV.

LeNeveu was calm like that. Here's hoping...
Until UNH game yes.
