Title: Scrimmage vs Czechs
Post by: chimpfood on October 13, 2025, 03:18:01 PM
Very exciting to have a game this week. I am super curios to see how all of the newcomers look, as well as guys returning from injury. The Czechs play Yale on Wednesday so if they publish the stats from that one we can get a sense of what kind of score line we should hope for.

Is this the same team we played on the Euro Trip a few years ago? What was the score of that game?

Although their game against us is shown as on ESPN+, Yale doesn't list it as online, nor does ESPN. That seems strange.

Yeah, I noticed that too. Either way, excited to see the team under Coach Jones and see which goalie gets the start. I would imagine they might split, as it is an exhibition.

Its a scrimmage and I believe last years scrimmage vs Princeton was not streamed so I wouldn't expect this one to be either.

At the luncheon today Coach Jones said that all he knew the game was to be online. He said he heard that all production guys were coming and that he would check when he got back to Lynah.

He did have video of them at Brown.

Of course they are going to be there for the women's game.

Anyway, I'm going to the women's game. So if it's still not clear by then I'll ask

Fegaras off a turnover, 5-0.

The worst part is that prep drink.  That is truly vile, and I have had banana liqueur.

No idea how we look, we are playing a team that in the last 5 days:

flew across the ocean
played 2 games
drove to Ithaca

There is no way to judge.  7-1 under these conditions might even be disappointing.

We will know more next week.

Things I have learned so far:

Our freshman aren't embarrassing which is a dam good thing because they are half the team.  Our transfer Ds look quiet, confident, and conservative.  Cournoyer is really tall.

Not sure if there's a ton to be gleaned in a "scrimmage" like this, but Major sure is flying around the ice like a man possessed and making something happen nearly every shift.

PP units seem to still be in "flux" and are getting shuffled a bit each time.

Nice to be able to be back at lynah. It's slightly concerning that Walsh and Stanley didn't play but hopefully just rest. Both are in recent Instagram posts of practice and neither looked injured walking around the rink.

Castagna and Desantis had some good chemistry today, would love to see them continue being on a line together.

Long had a stinker today but I'll excuse it as freshman jitters.

I also was there and did not see Katz play so I feel like I'm losing my mind with all of you saying he got in there.

Walsh spent the whole offseason recovering from shoulder surgery so it's likely that. Don't know anything about Stanley but I would presume that's precautionary also.

I did sutab prep, so a bunch of horse pills instead of the drink. I point blank told the nurses I'd be unable to drink that much liquid - especially if it's ill tasting, my body will just reject it. Had that experience before with DayQuil. Plus, I was already struggling to get down the liter of actual water that I needed to have with the pills. Pretty sure they're more expensive, but it was definitely worth it.

Quote from: RichHSpeaking of jersey numbers, the font seems different this year. Specifically, the "3" is a little weird.

The numbers looked thicker.  I liked them- easier to see on the often too zoomed out camera work, and it added more red to the home jerseys.

Whoops...not sure how I blew that, but somehow Koepple at the start of the 2nd looked "different" to me. You're clearly right, especially now that I see Koepple's jersey number in some photos I took at the start of the 2nd.

Player names were better sans serif.  Look was cleaner.

They switched to a new manufacturer: CCM, I believe.

It was wonderful to see Devlin back out there.  One of his second period shifts he hit three guys.  It will be nice getting a quality forechecker back into the lineup.

I know he was looking healthy toward the end of last season but I thought the Fegaras wrister was a great sign that he is over his thumb trouble.

My favourite part of the night was on the five on three to start the second when Ashton set up Veilleux for a one timer from the dot and then they swapped and Veilleux set up Ashton for a one timer from the same dot. I'm salivating at the prospect of having oh-fensive minded defenceman looking to create on the man advantage.

I'm hoping the road jerseys have been corrected.

This is my doing.  My only excuse is I was uncritically passing on FAKE NEWS from Jason.  :P

For those who were there, what did you get from the game that you trust, given our opponent was more tired than Bonnie Blue at the Indy 500?

That Cornell appears humongous.  That I don't know how they'll decide who plays out of this group.  That there was a willingness to shoot first in many situations.  That radio music over the PA is here to stay.

There's also some faux laces on the front of both the men's and women's jerseys this year. (And I think the nameplates/numbers are the same font as what the women started using last season?)

On TV the back numbers and name plates looked a little shiny, but the proportions seemed better than last season.
We still have among the best, and most static, uniforms. I'm a sucker for a 3rd though.

There was a new voice reading the in arena promos for this game.  Arthur just stuck to the on ice announcements.  If this is a permanent change I'll miss Arthur's cowboy accent for the hat giveaway the most.

The worst part is that prep drink.  That is truly vile, and I have had banana liqueur.

I'm pretty sure the worst part is what happens shortly after the prep drink.

Given the median age of posters on here, there are likely a lot of colonoscopy experiences to compare.
