Here's Coach Jones's wording:
Now I've got some exciting news - In case you haven't heard, Mike Schafer will be inducted into the Cornell University Athletics Hall of Fame! Read the press release here. It's a huge honor for Mike and for the Men's Ice Hockey program. The Inductee Class of 2025 will celebrate on campus the weekend of November 21-22 while we are home versus Union and RPI.
One other key date to put on your calendars will be our Cornell Hockey reunion weekend which this year will be January 23/24 with Dartmouth and Harvard coming to town. We will honor the '86 and '96 ECAC Championship teams that weekend.
So circle those dates :)
Number retirement (3 (http://www.tbrw.info/reports/rptPlayer_Scoring/rptPlayer_Scoring_Schafer_Mike.pdf)) warranted too.
But that's the last one because number retirements are stupid.

Not for the Hall of Fame. They might do a different recognition at homecoming tho.

Ithaca in November is pretty spectacular, actually. Post grape-harvest and everyone is taking a breath. Leaves are at their crunchiest and the academic world is most studious.
QuoteThat weekend isn't even the Penn game any more either.
It should be, but Penn got too self-important and game-the-rankings to try to re-brand as the new Princeton or some-such and didn't want to associate with an Ag school anymore.. Eh, basically, fuck Penn.

And May 1st, just to rub it in.

...and that's a bad thing? First, it doesn't stick around if you think snow is horrifying on the extreme shoulders of the season. I have photos of trick-or-treating in the snow in my childhood, and I think I was walking past Kennedy Hall on May 10th during a brief snow squall one year.
I'd be willing to bet that fall semester snow becomes more of a rare occurrence in the upcoming decades...everywhere, since we made sure to push climate disinformation.

Actually, now that I think about it, there were a bunch of November snows during my Thanksgiving/hockey/football trips back to Upstate NY. But my memory of November as an undergrad is just chilly, dark and rainy.
I'll take 25 and snowy over 35 and rainy any time.
This is hardly new. The original Hall of Fame announcement was made on June 26 (https://cornellbigred.com/news/2025/6/26/general-cornell-athletics-elects-10-into-hall-of-fame-as-class-of-2025.aspx).

Sure, it was published a while back. But I only caught wind of it now, and so, apparently, did most of the forums. So.
I dont think posting it on web site that no one reads off season and that barely functions as a website really qualifies as an announcement.
