Now that it's been settled, and Cornell will host the Ivy League Men's Lacrosse Tournament (https://ivyleague.com/feature/25mlaxtournament), what do you want or suggest to make the tournament better?
To start the ball rolling, here's a suggestion. Cornell has historically made the justifiable claim that its engineering school is the best in the Ivy League. Cornell can demonstrate this by making this year's tournament broadcasts better than all other lacrosse broadcasts.
It can start by starting the broadcast on time. Then take a page from Harvard and use camera drones. A recent Inside Lacrosse podcast compared the quality of cameras colleges use to broadcast lacrosse games with the more expensive ones used by larger, commercial organizations like ESPN. Cornell could invest in higher-quality equipment (cameras and drones), which can also be used for teaching and research in multiple contexts. Cornell may even already have the equipment and just needs to use it.
You want athletics to put effort into this?

Absolutely.

Agreed! Prospective recruits and free agents will be watching. It would also be nice to have more people in the Crescent. I'd also like to see new and improved Cornell infomercials at the half and during timeouts. RC Holmes kids have probably graduated from high school by now.
.
I am guessing the quality camera work and drones for the Harvard game was due to it being carried on NESN (New England Sports Network).

But I don't recall seeing drone shots on other ESPN lacrosse broadcasts.
i wonder if they can even get permission to fly the drone over campus that fast the way things move in campus.

Not to politicize this august forum but ... some might say at least in the past, one could paint the drone body in the colors of the Palestinian flag. It'd be seen as the cries of an oppressed people, and untouchable by Cornell.
BTW watching the drone even on a monster TV (85") it was hard to see the individual players that well, let alone see the ball movement. But worth doing.

- Abstain from commenting about oppressed people (except that an upside-down U.S. flag might be more apropos).
- Also agree; I'm traveling now, but when I get home, I hope to enlarge the video to improve vision. Nonetheless, even without enlargement, one can see the path of the play.

Lease the Goodyear blimp.
A little paint here and there wouldn't hurt.

Nicki Moore has had a fair amount of time to install a staff & culture that should be able to competently put together a league championship event. At the very least, I hope it's less of an embarrassment than the last AD's effort.

There should be a life size cardboard cutout of RC in the field house or somewhere. He's the modern day east hill car wash jingle.

DUde probably got paid $150 for a commercial that's been used for a decade

RC Holmes? The guy who severed his patellar tendon?
No bathrooms in the stadium until warm weather is a minor problem for guys, a big hassle for women. It was freezing up at Lehigh in the opener, but they had a really nice bathroom (by stadium standards) as well as the team dressing rooms. This on their sports complex which is a pretty good hike away from main campus.
IIRC we also hosted an NCAA quarterfinal in the past decade and plumb ran out of food.
I gotta say, Cornell playing on Long Island at Hofstra every year is a bit of a hassle for Ithaca fans, great for metro NY fans, and good for potential HS recruits if they're not playing that day.
This is the third year in a row that we're hosting the ILT. In each of the last 2 years we've lost our first game. I'm feeling much better about this year's team. We've beaten the other 3 teams decisively, and our defense is playing much better. The only thing that could stop us is if we run into a really hot goalie.
Way too many turnovers in Saturday, gotta clean those up.

In 2023 the tournament was in NYC
Thanks for the correction. We were the first seed, right?

Looking back, yes we were. Damn, I didn't remember our regular season record being that good

Was that the 2004 game against navy?

Even better, paint it with the colors of the Israeli flag. If it crashes and burns down a house with family inside, all criticism will be seemed antisemitic and the critics arrested, interrogated, imprisoned, and deported.
Ha ha, offhand jokes are

Well, if Cornell wears the red & black unis, between Dartmouth and Cornell, you'll have all the colors of the Palestinian flag.
Or pretty much every other country in the Arab world except Qatar, FWIW.

Whooaah. Jeff, credit due for add something (lightly) useful to what is already thread drift. And meanwhile I see there is some unhappiness that Slope Day performer Keilani is getting feedback for being pro-Palestine or wildly pro-Palestine. It was so much easier when the campus was virtually all Get Out of vietnam. To our credit, we are no longer spitting (for real or just words) at ROTC and veterans attending Cornell.

I'm nothing, if not esoteric.
ILT now set: #1 Cornell vs #4 Yale, #2 Princeton vs #3 Harvard
We get the 4:00 game
Quote from: jjanow99We get the 4:00 game
That goes against previous practice, but that's the official schedule:
https://ivyleague.com/feature/25mlaxtournament
2025 Ivy League Lacrosse Tournament
Fri 5/2 #1 Cornell vs. #4 Yale (finish in the Ivy League)
Fri 5/2 #2 Princeton vs. #3 Harvard
Sun 5/4 championship
In ECAC hockey, the #1 team plays the earlier game, and now it's just set that way. This gives the 1-seed the opportunity to grab a shower afterward and watch who they'll be playing Sunday. Also 2 more hours of rest.
When it was at Columbia, the late game made it easier for the 1-seed to get more fans there, whether driving from Ithaca or subway up from Wall Street. The coach wants best for the players and that's usually: early game.
TV logo shows ESPN-U.
ESPN-plus tells me I have access to these games (I do not have ESPNU).
