Cornell game notes:

A win clinches Cornell hosting the ILT.
Harvard has a 9-2 record and is currently RPI #7. They beat Syracuse early (Feb 22) in the Dome, 15-14, despite winning just 4 of 32 faceoffs. Other notable wins are over Michigan 14-11 and BU 16-7. Their two losses are an early one (Feb 18) to Colgate 15-19 and at Princeton 11-13 (Mar 22).
Massey's computer gives Cornell a 61% chance of winning, by a most-likely score of 15-13:

So: a worthy opponent and a big game with multiple playoff implications.
LGR!
First in person game of the season for me. I went two years ago and saw a pretty disappointing 8-10 loss to a middling Harvard team. Reasonably optimistic going in, but Harvard is legit this year. Hopefully it will end up looking like a good to great W, but a L won't be a resume killer.
Harvard has a lot going on these days, and they are a very good team. I would not be surprised to see them take an early lead. We'll need to play our best to get the W tomorrow.

they are obviously very good or they wouldn't have the record they have and we've defintely suffered worse upsets but i look at harvard's schedule and i see a team that keeps escaping. we had five bad minutes against a team now ranked in the top five.
confidence is high.
Went back and looked at the box score from that 2023 game, and woof. Even with Harvard being much improved, I think you could say the same for us. We were running an attack of Kirst, Brian Piatelli, and Billy Coyle.
I have reached out to ESPN plus since the start time on their website says 1 PM. I am waiting for the Chat Bot to respond.
PS: The Bot has escalated the issue to be sure the streaming starts on time.

THANKS!!!
The Bo sounds like The Boz, 1980s Oklahoma then NFL football player Brian Bosworth. He felt like a man born 10 years too soon to really capitalize on body art.
Cornell schedule, Harvard schedule, Harvard pregame story all say noon. ESPN+ placeholder says 1:00. I want to think the two schools would take time out from finding lawyer's who, like, went to school with Jared and Ivanka, and bring some closure to the couple thousand of us for whom lacrosse is the number one issue today.

We few, we happy few, we band of brothers.
On the other hand, they do have Cornell-Harvard baseball....
Not good. Live stats are up on Harvard site. Nothing on ESPN+
Early innings: The game has just started and Harvard already has a headcount, to wit 3,000 fans.
Live stat shows Cornell up 1-0 on a Mike Long goal.
2-0 Firth
Can't see it, but so far so good.
2-0 Cornell on a Firth goal.
3-0 Goldstein
Quote from: jjanow993-0 Goldstein
Pour it on!
3-0 add Goldstein
Harvard sucks, ESPN, too!
I hope the replay will be available, at least.
4-0 Dalton
Chris Davis is in there.
5-0 Goldstein
5 out of 6 on faceoffs.
Back on with the ESPN bot, but I don't want to jinx things. Team seems to be doing well without me watching.
5-1
Sounds as if Harvard is doing a good job (?) shutting down Kirst. Except: "Scoreboard!!!" Five-nothing. Oops, 5-1, Shane correction Knust no longer has a shutout going.
Will ESPN eventually pick game up in progress or tape delay?
5-1 after 1 period.
Now when I click on the game on ESPN, it says game not available in my package or region... ?
Finally up on ESPN
Let the Harvard guy run right across the top.
Great crowd.
5-3 , 2 quick H goals
Nice look by Gilmartin finding the pole in front of the net!
CJ is trying to do too much there. Just move the ball.
Love these overhead camera shots!
Mid-second, Cornell is awesome on faceoffs 11x14, 9 turnovers (6 caused by our hosts), 4 by Harvard. Kirst is not a scoring factor, yet, but neither is Harvard's Tewaarton candidate, Sam King.
8-5
Faceoffs 11-3
Want to see Cornell win every period. Don't let down, lads.
Harvard is attacking our short sticks and getting good looks. Our guys need to shove them down the alley.
Jeez Kirst! Three in a row!
11-5
3 quick goals by Kirst
Three by Kirst in very short order, two of them nine seconds apart. Way to respond: massive force, instant retaliation.
I was liking that Goldstein picked up some of the slack. He's got years left here. Unless NIL.
11-7
I'm impressed by the H offense. Very quick ball movement.

Yep. They find the open cutter.
That EMO goal by Cornell was a beaut.
12-8 half
Knust with only 4 saves, a few of those goals he had no chance.
H opens 3rd with ball and 1 minute EMO.

4 or 5 Harvard goals were straight dodges down the alley with speed. We need to get that figured out.
Shouldn't it be a face-off to start the 3rd? Harvard threw the ball away at the end of the half. Harvard would need possession at the end of the half to avoid the face-off, unless the officials decided that there was really 0.2 seconds on the clock and everybody agreed to end the half and Harvard retains possession.

The penalty meant the ball would go to Harvard on the dead ball.
H got within one , then 3 straight goals by C.
15-11
That's at least twice we lost the ball because of footing on this (wet?) turf.
Better defense on the alley dodges in the 3rd. We can't lose the cutters.
Our long poles are like Hoover vacuum cleaners on the ground balls.
Pulling away?
18-11

18-11
It's a game of runs but we're in a very good spot.
Kirst ties the record for most goals in a season!
(Have no idea how a defense loses Kirst.)
Kirst ties the record! 20-11
Take him out, get the record next week at home.
"Even at 20-12, who knows what can happen."
You gotta like an announcer with this much optimism. Adam Pascal is the color guy's name, a high school coach. He's entertaining.
Great win. Nice toughness after Harvard got it within one.
Loved the coverage -- great camera work, good announcers, and drone shots!

Former head coach at Holy Cross. Very entertaining and knowledgeable. It got awkward when asked about positives he saw from Harvard and wound up gushing more about Cornell's game.
The aerial replays were outstanding. Great broadcast to watch once they got it on.

Are you sure his name isn't Don Quijote de la Mancha?

By loses Kirst, do you mean stops Kirst? I am genuinely asking, I did not understand what you meant.
He means the Dman ostensibly guarding Kirst lets his attention wander away from Kirst. Harvard #46 does it on CJ's record-tying goal:
https://x.com/Inside_Lacrosse/status/1913653572647985229
Knust had a great second half, 8 saves and only 4 goals against.
Good start and finish by Cornell, matching ends 5-1 scoring for Cornell in the first and fourth. Nice job building up the early lead knowing CJ Kirst would kick in the afterburners.

He looked more open live. On this replay, Jesus Kirst slid behind the defender for just a half second. Great pass and great finish.
Fun game, good crowd. We sat with CJ Kirst's family, which was a great experience. The Harvard athletic complex is a disorganized mess, however.
Hoping the Cornell students (and pep band!!) show up to see Kirst make history next week!
36 minutes of highlights, including the first 5 Cornell goals that ESPN+ did not show live:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3fN8rz402FM
Excellent broadcast yesterday. For many reasons, including the quality, camera angles, and announcers. The stream starting 30 minutes late is inexcusable but that's ESPN's fault I assume, not the fault of the local production crew.
