Post by: Brunke on February 23, 2002, 08:28:19 AM
First off, Congrats to a great Cornell team on winning the Cleary Cup. As for tonight, will Hockeycam stay with the coverage for tonight's ceremony?

And as I requested last night, can the annual between period Big Red Bear program be broadcast?

jy3 are you TRYING to get me to fail out of vet school? you know i would give my right arm for a home game, let alone the playoffs, let ALONE placid, and NCAA (that would leave me with no appendages...well one but anyway. thank but i think i am just going to have to wait till next year.

Speaking of Underhill, I don't know how many of you saw this, but he came over to the penalty box last night to hug a girl (sorry, don't know her name), and gave her a kiss and gave her his goalie stick!  I took some pics (unfortunately, they came out a little blurry)...

matt was funny last night. i dont know how many of you could see, but from the far end (away from section A,B), at the beginning of the third period, a water bottle was thrown over in his direction while he was stretching. he calmly grabbed it and threw it over his head and it landed right on the net perfectly.  and then he started playing with the puck during the whole penalty sorting-out business towards the end, putting some moves on his own goal.  and did anyone else think it was great how he almost scored on the empty net goal? :) i think he's got a great sense of humor and really likes playing with the crowd...ill miss that... :`(

My favorite memory of Matt's sense of humor was watching him explain the "GOALIE ... SIEVE ... SIEVE ... GOALIE ... GOALIE ... SIEVE!" cheer to the two Merrimack goalies when they were sitting in the stands at the SIT with him and Gartman because the benches were too small.  ::laugh::

Matt Underhill definately deserves recognition for being one of the classiest guys on the team.  I'm impressed every time a stick is dropped near him by an opposing player.  When the play is over he gets it and hands it to the player.  Thanks Matt and the rest of the seniors.  It's been a great year and hopefully it will continue that way!!  GO BIG RED!

That was me! :-) I have Matt's goalie stick and I really appreciated him giving it to me... I know we will all miss watching Matt play when he is gone :`(

Matt was very pleasant to my then 12 year old daughter when we visited Ithaca in '00.  He seemed to like the "older brother" like admiration that she had for him.  It even extended into some back and forth emails that she was thrilled he answered.

Thanks Matt!
