Since the ECAC women's semis are at 3pm and 6pm Friday, I assume that means the men's first-round game must be Saturday? The email I just got doesn't give a time for the women's final Saturday, but the ticket page says "likely 4:00-5:00pm puck drop", so I guess the men's game is Saturday at 7 or 8?
Edit: changed the subject to avoid a spoiler?

It'd have to be closer to 8, I think. If the women puck drop at 4, they end around 6:30 without OT...
plahy the mens game first and you could get a crowd for the womens game.

Opposite. Everybody leave after the men to drink.
This way at least the crowd will be time for the start of the men's game.

It feels more likely that website is wrong than that the ecac plans an unlimited overtime triple header on Friday.
CHN has the game listed as Friday at 7 pm, ECAC website has every other first round game listed except ours.

Is every other game the same time? Cuz. You know...
Cornell site still says fri or sat and we already know there are 2 Friday games. 3 and 6.
ECAC site also says finals are sat 4 o5 5.
that kinda implies 8pm sat for the men.
From the summary of the Cornell-RPI game sent out from Athletic Communications around 11:30pm Saturday night:
"Cornell will return to action next week when it hosts a first-round matchup to begin the 2025 ECAC Hockey Championship. The No. 6-seeded Big Red will host No. 11-seeded Yale (6-20-3, 5-14-3 ECAC Hockey) next weekend at Lynah Rink. The date and time for the contest will be announced at a later date."

UNLIMITED OVERTIME TRIPLE HEADER LET'S GOOOOO
If they make us sit through all that, am I legally allowed to spend the night in the pews of the rink?

Could be fun. Bring a blanket and a couple of pillows.
Possibly a Sunday afternoon game?
the ECAC makes the schedule. They can do what they want.
Cornell needs to provide people to work the games as well.
A ton of stress on the support staff to deal with 4 games and Lax on Sat as well
Quote from: JasonN95Possibly a Sunday afternoon game?
I think Thursday is more likely than Sunday from a competitive fairness perspective as winning team needs to travel for qf a few days later.
Women championship at 3 and men at 7 (or one hour after women) Saturday is my guess. And ecac just crosses all fingers that neither game needs ot. I assume there is sufficient locker room space for that to work.

And men's basketball at 2pm.
Parking will be interesting. Weather will probably keep the Lax crowd down again.
They should be promoting the hockey with the BB crowd to get them next door for the Women's game when it's over.

Slumber party, and get up in time for the women's championship on Saturday... I like that idea.
Make more sense for the women to play the two semifinal games Friday, no men's game Friday, leaving the women's championship game Saturday at two or 3 PM and the men's single play-in game Saturday at 7. Unless the Cornell coaching staff sees some slight advantage in the visiting men's team having to bus in on Thursday. and then having Saturday off and start prepping for the next weekend, a day earlier.

Reminds me of when we'd camp out by Teagle, and later overnight in Barton Hall, to buy season hockey tickets.

This reminds me of when I was back in high school. Some friends and I would take the E train from 179th Street in Queens to MSG to watch the Rangers. This was the old MSG at 8th Avenue and 50th Street that had a lot of character, if not great sight lines. General admission seats in the balcony were $2, $1.25 with a GO (general organization) card, essentially a high school ID. This was before metal detectors and armed guards.
From the first row in the balcony you could see the entire ice surface. In the second row, however, you had to stand up to see play along the near boards, so we'd try to arrive about a half hour before the first face off. Still, there was always one Tony Sopranoesque guy from New Jersey who got there before us. "Dese seats are all taken." We didn't argue, the second row would do just fine!

Agreed. The travel is the hard part, and you're already there. Weekends like this don't work out every year.
I think the University put out a book chronicling that weekend in March 2010 where the men's hockey team won in Albany, the women's hockey team advanced in the frozen four, the men's basketball team continued their NCAA run, and (maybe? IIRC) the men's lax team had a big early game. That was all spread out across the country.

I think it was:
basketball beats Wisconsin to reach sweet 16 (in Boise or Jacksonville or something)
M Hockey won ecac title over union (in Albany)
W hockey played in national final and lost heartbreaker to Duluth (in Minnesota?)
Wrestling team finished second at nationals (in the Midwest somewhere)
Lacrosse did something less memorable
But home weekends like this are exceedingly rare.

Spring break is first week of April. The first round of prelims should be done by this weekend so I'm hopeful that it'll be a good student turnout, though all the other sports going on that day might hurt.
