Canada is trampling all over Sweden
Wicked fast paced game
Canada is looking real scary. I'll wait until I see how the US looks tomorrow before I lose too much hope but if Canada plays like that the rest of the tournament nobody is beating them.

Agreed
Hoping the US can compete with them
Quite the comeback by Sweden to force OT
Let's see how this OT of 10 minutes 3 on 3 pans out
WOW that was some fantastic hockey!
Goalies made it a great show
Fantastic game!!!
And they break their sticks too.

Amazing game, proud of Sweden for pushing it to OT. I'm really excited for the USA game tomorrow.
I'd like to congratulate our lord and savior Sidney Crosby on his three assists.
Just in case I don't come across as insufferable, I'm a Pens fan. But I'm old enough that I was a Lemieux bandwagon fan, at least.
The NHL would really help itself if they made games more accessible on stations other than paid tv during the regular season!
This was a great game and should spark greater interest

The worst is the NFL where a package of all or virtually games is $500. NFL wizards don't let you pick a) local team and b) team you grew to love in a city you no longer live in for, say, one-third or one-half price.
Are Devon Toews and Adam Fox the only ECAC alums in the tournament?
USA is kind of playing like Cornell at the moment
Mmmmm, the power play?
Looking good right now though.
Yeah
Hopefully this next one will at least have more than one shot on net
Any young Tkachuks available for recruiting to Cornell? Will take a 2nd or 3rd cousin.

They put on quite the show!
Go USA

Cornell competed against Brady twice in the 2018 season, a victory at MSG and a loss in the NCAA tournament.

And we beat Matthew (along with Auston Matthews) in an exhibition against the US U-18 team in 2014, although he can at least claim a point on Lynah Rink ice:

Those first two games were super fun.
I think atp the teams are pretty solidly USA=CAN>SWE>FIN. Finland's lack of defense was glaring in the 3rd period. Sweden is a solid team with upset potential. Canada looked very good, their forward core is scary and their defense is also really good, but the net is their weakness (though if you just don't let anyone shoot at net, you're fine). America seems to have a bit of everything - the best goalie in net and no obvious flaws on D or F.
Will have to splitscreen USA/CAN and Big Red hockey tomorrow :)
Crazy game between FIN and SWE. Now Makar out for USA/CAN.
even crazier start of usa can

Holy fuck
US beats Canada 3-1, very happy but job isn't done, we'll probably see them in the final.
If the USA relaxes against Sweden, it would be likely they would face the Swedes in the final.

Canada clinches the final with a regulation win over Finland which will probably happen.
Looking back at the game notes from our last USNTDP exhibition it is crazy how much talent has passed through lynah in these games. Austin Matthews and Matthew tkachuk just to name two playing in the 4 nations tournament. Also funny that our last exhibition loss was at the hands of Andy Iles playing goal for the USNTDP. Based on the schedule of every other year that has been going for a while now, we're due for another game with them next year. I hope these games can continue, it's awesome being able to say that we've seen all these great players in our own barn.

Yeah, that's very true!
It is awesome and it is definitely something to look forward to for next season.
Last night's game didn't go the USA's way, but I assumed we wouldn't have many of our top players on the ice since the game really had no stake in Thursdays championship game.
Looking forward to a big W on Thursday
USA needs to figure out how many of the injuries are not worth playing thru. Still got 2 days to get fill ins if needed.

I thought they could not add to the roster??
Just found this:
Will the U.S. injuries be a problem?
The injuries are starting to pile up for the United States.
Charlie McAvoy has already been ruled out for the game with the Boston Bruins saying the defenseman was admitted to Massachusetts General Hospital on Monday to undergo testing related to an upper-body injury.
That is a huge loss for the U.S. as McAvoy had a dominant game against Canada. And although Vancouver Canucks defenseman Quinn Hughes is going to come to Boston, he can only play if the U.S. has fewer than six healthy defensemen available.

I bet he could play if they don't have twelve healthy forwards. They didn't bring in any additional forwards so they could get Hughes in with 11+7. They didn't bring him out there not to play.

I have photos of some lax games on lower Alumni Field from my 1970-71 freshman year. I believe Schoellkopf got artificial turf -- PolyTurf, caused a lot of sliding-on-turf leg burns, installed spring / summer. That was for Marinaro '72 to have artificial turf in fall 1971. I think L.A.F. lasted through 1973.

Sounds like everyone barring McAvoy is able to play. QHughes didn't make the trip, not cleared by Nucks doctor. Pesce and Thompson around.
Quote from: stereaxSounds like everyone barring McAvoy is able to play.
And now Bruins management has started some drama surrounding the medical treatment McAvoy received, suggesting that the Team USA medical staff (who are affiliated with the Minnesota Wild) botched their response to his initial injury and possibly caused the infection that landed him in the hospital.
It would be awesome after the college hockey season to have a tournament like the 4 Nations
The best of the Ivy, Hockey East, etc
Just my opinion
now that's how you finish

The defensive zone coverage was so good all night, but they somehow left the best player in the world all alone in the slot. I believe Matthews was the likely culprit?
Ah well, at Eva Braun's press conference yesterday she declared Canada is "soon to be our 51st state" so McDavid will be playing for us!

Will Canadians automatically become US citizens? Does it become the 3 Nation Tournament? Or maybe we should add Russia to keep it at 4 Nations.

But, then again, if we withdraw from NATO, Sweden and Finland will become part of Russia, so we'll be back to a 2 Nation Tournament. An annual Miracle on Ice Tournament? It will keep Eruzioni employed for life.
I'm just waiting for Trudeau's executive order re: The Gulf of McDavid.

I was just thinking last night how eerily similar McDavid's GWG was to Jack Skille's against us in 3OT in the Wisconsin game, although I think that play started from the half boards, rather than from below the goal line.

I shudder to think what a "best of hockey east" roster would look like.
