Looking at Quinnipiac's stats, it looks like they've had almost zero injuries this entire season. I would put the odds at:
60% Q regulation win
25% Cornell regulation win
15% game goes to OT
I don't know who Cornell should, or will, start in goal. They should play whoever gives them the best chance to win. That sounds obvious, but coaches seem to ride with the "hot hand" based on tiny sample sizes.
A win tomorrow would be very important to curtail Quinnipiac's chances of an at-large bid.

While living in SoCal years ago, I made many trips to Las Vegas. There were only 1-2 casino sports books who posted college hockey odds - one was owned by Ralph Engelstad. It was ridiculous how uninformed the lines were. Then and now, the action on this sport must be so small, they don't care to do much research.

1-0 end of 1st. The momentum definitely shifted in favor of Q for most of the second half of the period, but Shane made several good saves. We had a significant advantage in face offs.
Things have been pretty physical (but not terribly chippy so far): Q announcer referred to Ricketts, their grad student PIM leader, "hoping for a bloodbath" in his pregame interview.

Which may be why Shane was in goal tonight. The odds of a shootout were pretty decent. For the first 60 minutes, maybe it didn't matter who started. But Shane was more likely to get us the extra point at the end.
Good weekend, I'm very proud of that effort. On to Harvard, lynah should be hopping.

Guys. I love you, but Shane wasn't in tonight to start a goalie tandem or because he's better in shootouts. He was in because the coaching staff thinks he gives the team the best chance to win. I think that's clear at this point.
Good effort this weekend, gives me some optimism. The best part was that Shane was very good (I didn't watch, but that seems to be the consensus). It's too bad we're in this position, but we have outs to win the ECAC if we keep on this trajectory and get the injured players back.

They didn't really know. They were likely checking that he maintained a forward motion and didn't get a "second chance" off of Shane's pad or something. Ref was kind of screened out.

Agree. Wish they wouldn't do that, especially early in the game. Seems like if a major wasn't called on the ice the odds are against a successful challenge and you lose BOTH your time out and opportunity to challenge on a critical goal/no goal play late in the game.
Over the years, I have consistently said that I don't enjoy going to games at Q, due to many factors that I won't list here. But in all fairness, last night's game was the most enjoyable experience I've had at Q since they opened their arena.
Since Q is not back from break, their pep band was not there. But there was a smaller-than-usual Cornell Alumni pep band at the game. In contrast to last weekend at Sacred Heart, especially last Friday night, the Cornell pep band was given ample time to play. Frequently during play stoppages there would be an announcement or a little music, and then the announcer would introduce the Cornell pep band to play a song. I give Q credit for not insisting on playing ear-blasting piped-in music at every opportunity, as was the case last weekend at Sacred Heart.
The arena was also surprisingly empty. Earlier in the week, Q ran a "hockey blast" sale, selling tickets for the weekend games against Colgate and Cornell for half price at $15 apiece.
The smaller crowd also made it easier to leave the arena afterwards, something which in the past has sometimes taken as much as 20 minutes. It was nice to be able to hear "Let's Go Red" chants from the pep band and a small group of Cornell fans behind the Cornell bench. The only "spontaneous" cheering for Q came when the cheerleaders would infrequently start a "Let's Go Bobcats" chant, which no one else in the arena chimed in on.
Quote from: TrotskyThe announcers talked about "maintaining momentum." I don't know if that actually in the letter of the rule. But I guess you can't just come to a full stop. It's like a balk.
The shoot-out follows the penalty shot procedure (rule 25.2) which says, among other things, this:
"Once the player taking the shot has touched the
puck, it must be kept in motion toward the opponent's goal line. When
the puck is shot, the play shall be considered complete. A goal cannot be
scored on a rebound of any kind, and any time the puck crosses the goal
line the shot shall be considered complete."
I think the announcers were right. When the shooter got near the crease, he was headed to his left but then rolled the puck across to his right side. If the puck had gone backward (away from the goal line), the shot would not have counted. And it looked pretty close, but there was not, as they say, "indisputable video evidence" to overturn the goal call.

Agree. Two nights at SHU made Q seem enjoyable. I do think they've toned it down a bit over the years too. With the notable exception of the new deafening train whistle thing.
The traffic was aided by low attendance and many beating the traffic before the 3x3, more before the shootout, and more still during the review.
The full feed of the game was available on demand when I went to watch it Sunday. It's disappointing that as the cost of the package rises the effectiveness of it has not improved. I'm still frustrated that the Dartmouth game never made it to the on demand queue.

At the volume of events that ESPN+ is now streaming I don't know how we expect them to archive much to watch for very long. 100s of events a day adds up
and as for cost. we get to watch events for pennies so I dont know why expect white glove service.
