Cornell starts off at a strong #9 in the preseason poll with 2 first place votes. If I had to guess I would say one came from the Denver coach given how we played them last year (and he can't vote for Denver) but not sure how we got two. Looking forward to this season and surpassing expectations again.

Probably Pecknold. Spur his team.

With all their losses, Q dropping just 2 places further convinces me that western coaches don't bother with the ECAC. They just put in whoever made it last year.
Several ECAC schools also receiving votes. League better this year?

As is the case every season, Quinnipiac reloaded with transfers and grad students, including Jeremy Wilmer, who led the entire USHL in points three years ago and was a point-per-game player with BU the past two seasons. With grad students and transfers (i.e. things Cornell can't have), you can pencil Q in as a top ten team every season now.
I was actually in Dalmatia this summer...

So I know you canr play as a 5yr grad in the ivies. But can you play as a 3-4 yr grad?
Transfers are allowed.

Grad students are not allowed at all.
Transfers are allowed, technically. But there is a very high admissions hurdle that makes transfers de facto banned outside of very specific circumstances (eg. great students like Seger transferring into Engineering/Fusco transferring to Dartmouth from Harvard).

Surprising 3 All-League from Cornell, only 1 from Q, and 0 from H, yet 1 from D. Very unusual pattern! :-O

Of course. This is America, and the system is rigged!

We are still drawing a first place vote in USCHO (https://www.uscho.com/rankings/d-i-mens-poll/).

Well, we're undefeated so far.

I don't think that one voter is aware that we have racked up multiple injuries before the season has even started.

Cornell's first two games and a sweep of North Dakota pushes Cornell from 9th to 6th in the coaches poll. One first-place vote (48 to Denver, 1 to Minnesota, 1 to Cornell). (ND falls 6th to 10th.) Coaches poll, via USCHO. Every other top twenty team has played at least six to eight games save Cornell with two and Western Michigan with four. Other ECAC teams in the poll: Quinnipiac (3-3) is 15th, also receiving votes are Union, Dartmouth, Harvard, Clarkson, and Brown with 1 vote.
Last time we were this high was 2020.
I was looking forward to Cornell's one first place vote disappearing so that I could joke that Cornell didn't beat UND handily enough to satisfy the voter. :-) Fun to speculate who is that voter: Maybe Denver's Coach Carle throwing a vote Cornell's way for how tough the team played his in the regional (and maybe not wanting to vote on his own team this early)? Pecknold or another ECAC coach wanting to give the conference some shine?
Anybody understand how Dartmouth is #2 in Pairwise after wins vs Harvard and Stonehill??????

I believe the "opponents opponents record" is lifting them because Harvard's is 1 as they have only played Dartmouth.

That's incredibly circular, isn't it?
I'm sure it will sort itself out as games are played, but it makes no sense to me.

Yes, and correct. People post the week one PWR as a joke / curiosity.

This also explains why the second win over ND was worth much less than the first.
Cornell drops 2 places to #8.
Dartmouth, Quinnipiac, and Clarkson also in the top 20.
Harvard and Union also receiving votes.
We drop to 11 in both polls. Q is 18.
Such a mixed year for Cornell in the polls and PWR that: The last time somebody posted in the Polls thread was Thanksgiving week, when we were 11th. Week of 2/3/25, Q is 14 in USCHO, and the rest of the ECAC is in Others Receiving Votes: Dartmouth 42, Clarkson 41, Cornell 15 (immediately behind Sacred Heart, 22). Interestingly, Colgate is not mentioned.
