I thought he would make through one or two more cuts. It will be much better for him to see a lot of minutes and all situations in the AHL than sit in the pressbox in the NHL.
Of equal interest is that Phoenix assigned LeNeveu to Springfield.
Well, Ohio people get to see Doug in Cleveland now, anyway.
LeNeveu was sent down to Springfield today. Don't really understand why they didn't do that earlier, it seemed pretty clear he wasn't going to be #1 or #2 on the Coyotes depth chart this year.
Looks like Baby is still in Atlanta, he's played 2:05 against the Hurricanes so far this morning:

When did Baby become "Stephan?" ::uhoh::
Being a Big Red fan who got relocated to Cleveland, can I tell you how happy I am to be seeing one of the Big Red here?! Murray in Cleveland! Wahoo!
well, it's a start.. but you still are living in the mistake by the lake!
as per ESPN.com transactions. Not a good 24 hours for Cornell. Baby, like Murray will see a lot more ice time in the minors and will be much better for his development.
Thrashers website says the same.

Very glass-half-empty, calgARI. I think it is a great sign that so many players lasted so far into training camp.
Lenny is still very young and there are goalies in front of him in Phoenix - his future is very bright. Murray and Baby both received very good notices in their camps, and I would be surprised if neither got some time in the NHL this year. The developments with Underhill (promotion) and Paolini (invitation) are also promising. This has been a very good year at training camps for Cornell alums and I am looking forward to the season.
By the way, does anyone know if Elliott is staying in Finland for another year?
Edit: Also, what happened to Paolini? I didn't see his name on the transactions page; the other free agents that were released from their tryout contracts were listed. Is he actually still in camp? And even though Baby's assignment is on the Thrashers official page, it isn't on the ESPN transactions page either, even though the rest of the assigned players were listed.
What does ESPN.com have against listing Cornell players?

ESPN does a pretty half-assed job with transactions. Paolini was released outright. He's working out with Cornell.
I think I was pretty clear in saying that the best thing for Baby and Murray was to spend some time in the minors getting a more ice time and responsibility than they would in the NHL. I doubt that Baby and Murray were satisfied making it this far into camp as they definitely wanted to make their respective teams. I'm not so sure about LeNeveu. To be honest, I always thought he was good, but not great; a product of a defensive system. That is what the voters for the Hobey thought. I think he could take a similar road that Pelletier has taken.
from hockeysfuture.com:
Right wing Stephen Baby was nearly invisible in the game, which is difficult given his 6'5" stature. The recent Cornell graduate played mostly with Healey and Baby (i think he means santalla).
[can't resist]
So he played with himself during the game? ::nut::
No wonder he wasn't effective.

And he needed help from Heatley. Yep, that's our Baby. ;-)
