First 11 games: 6-4-1 .591
Second 11 games: 8-0-3 .864
Third 11 games begins tonight and could carry us through Lake Placid.
Huge game tonight as far as securing a first round bye, given Union is in 5th. Obviously we have bigger aspirations, but a regulation loss and some other results and it's could be real tight down the stretch.
Union is kind of high in the pairwise but they never really worry me.
Fegaras out tonight.
25 elderly Latham realtors singing the anthem.
With 2:51 to go, Stonehill (0-28-0) leads Lindenwood, 3-1.
Edit: 1:32
Edit: 3-2 with :29 to go.
Did that noob color guy really say that Cornell wears cherry? ::smashfreak::
Do you believe in miracles? Yes? Stonehill wins. 1-28-0.

Deep cut Harkness joke. Harkness came from RPI. Harkness lightened the Cornell sweater color from Carnellian to RPI's color, cherry. Harkness went on to Union after his Red Wings stint (and was canned for recruiting improprieties).
That Castagna goal was a beautiful shot. "Natural scorer."
And now a full line goal, Castagna from O'Leary and Mack.
Speed kills.
5x3 coming for Cornell, with the second call a major.
Our PP is so painful to watch. I'd rather just be on 5x5. I don't understand how it is so bad
Came this close to both Tupkers scoring shorties on us this season when Shane pulled a Scrivens there.
Our PP is pitiful. Can't gain the zone cleanly, and when we do gain the zone the offense is so unsettled that by the time we cleanly possess the puck, the defense is already set up. It's also clear this team barely practices 5x3. How about a shot fake to get the defenders moving? All we could muster was a couple of shots from outside (relatively speaking, since the defense is packed in pretty close on 5x3). Our PP struggles are especially stark given how good we look 5x5.
Cornell is getting all the calls so far this game. Thank you Gabe Seger for making the PP look less like complete crap. Still, I don't get it—watch the Union PP from just prior—vastly more movement. It's night and day compared to five Cornell skaters mostly standing around aside from the two defensemen at the point occasionally trading places.
OK, let's just avoid the shg.
Maybe we can just do delayed penalties lol
We look 5x5 on 5x4 and 5x4 on 5x5.
"The Cornell power play looking very stationary..."
You don't say.
Clarkson has tied Quinnipiac 2-2 midway through 2nd.

Fridgen had that observation last night that our PP "had a lot of puck movement but not much skater movement."
Tupker has missed three nets tonight, thankfully.
No shape the last 10 mins.
Q just went back ahead at Cheel, 3-2.
Union (correctly) playing as aggressively as possible down 4 (now 3) goals and Cornell is struggling to handle it. There will be odd man chances the other way if we do manage to turn the puck up ice, though.
Watching our PP is such a jarring experience because it's been the same issues for months now. Coaching staff is content to stick with the no-movement plan, I guess?
2 Q goals in 44 seconds, 4-2.
One period to lock this up. Let's hope Union stays out of the box.
The look of patience on that girl was a master's thesis on gender.
Damn it. Power play. :-(
Nice set up actually.
And another. This pp has been cromulent.
And another.
Garth from Wayne's World behind our box tonight.
Quote from: TrotskyAnd another. This pp has been cromulent.
On this PP, which indeed was improved from those prior, Cornell's player at the blue line SHOT THE PUCK ON NET, rather than passing it endlessly around the perimeter, creating a good rebound chance and then several more good chances on the ensuing chaos. Still, there appear to be spacing issues on zone entries. Everyone is either too close to the guy who carries the puck into the zone or not in a passing lane to receive a pass.
Unions pulls goalie with 6:30 to go.

IINM all 3 chances were orchestrated by Bancroft, who has been invisible this weekend. He broke structure and acted like a rover, and it messed up the set defense.
If they really want overtime to be fun, play without goalies.
I am whelmed. Good weekend!
Six point weekend doesn't have quite the same ring to it. But six point weekend nonetheless.
Third period was embarrassing but I won't be complaining too much about a 6-1 win
Congratulations on defeating the team in the city that's an anagram of Stench & Decay.
12th in PWR!

But getting no help from other teams. I think we might be back to 14th soon. Hopefully Michigan State hangs on vs Michigan so we stay there.
Still it's nice to see, even if fleeting.
We currently have the 4th best winning percentage in D1.

PC winning at Maine hurt.
Way too sloppy a 3rd period.. So many times we just needed to clear the zone and got too fancy and we had to scramble around to protect.
couldn't watch but hard to complain about 6-1. get those highlights up.
I'm still confused why random teams like Union and Dartmouth have much more fluid motion on their PP and create so many more chances than we do. From zone entries to O-zone playmaking, why are we clearly worse at the PP than otherwise lesser teams?
By the way, does anyone know why Fegaras was scratched? Did he finish last night's game or did he get hurt?
I thought mid game they said he got dinged last night and barely got off the ice?
Quote from: upprdeckI thought mid game they said he got dinged last night and barely got off the ice?
Did the Union or RPI announcers say that?
Quote from: BearLoverBy the way, does anyone know why Fegaras was scratched? Did he finish last night's game or did he get hurt?
In the Union pre-game on WHCU with Jason, Schafer said Fegaras was dinged up just at the end of the RPI game, and didn't appreciate it was more than a stinger until he was back in the locker room. He should be okay for practice as early as Tuesday, but could not go against Union.

Thanks. I never listen to these pre-game interviews, but maybe I should, as there is some good information in there. How long do these interviews usually go, and is there a place to listen to them online after the fact?
Jason interviews Schafer, Flanagan, or Syer from 6:35-6:40, the opposing coach from 6:45-6:50, and then does keys to the game from 6:55-7:00.
I find the interviews interesting.

Ned was not canned at Union. He resigned. The final thing leading to his resignation was someone at the school leaking the grade point averages of his players to the school newspaper. Ned believed it was the Admissions Office who also was not happy with Union moving up to D-I and leaving NESCAC, as they felt hockey was getting overemphasized at the school. Tom Bonner, who was Union's president at the time, was a big supporter of Ned.

OLeary was all over the place on Friday causing chaos. On sat very little activity.

Anyone who doesn't watch this video especially from the 3 minute mark to the end will be banned from eLynah.
Even more important than listening to Jason's pregame interview, BL.
Quote from: TrotskyThat Castagna goal was a beautiful shot. "Natural scorer."
Didn't it feel like time stood still once he got into the clear on that one? Lots of time to wonder where he was gonna shoot. I didn't guess top corner short side though. Most of our guys go for the deke (a La the Mack goal). What a finish! Four point night for a freshman. Don't see a lot of those in these parts. I thought they played the extra attacker time waiting to get Castagna out there to complete the hat trick. He was out there once but they didn't get it out of their zone. Then they figured enough was enough.
A few too many hang onto your hat moments between the Shane turnover and when Rego lost control at the goal mouth.
I'm happy for Wallace. He's been one of the odd men out for weeks.
They are taking care of business despite there still being plenty of room for improvement. Everyone is contributing. They have put themselves in a really nice position.

Very impressive young man and player. The Salt Lake Coyotes may have gotten themselves a steal in last summer's draft.
