I thought i'd read just recently that the Leafs were out of the running. I guess not.
Any chance of Nieuwendyk getting a fourth championship ring with a fourth team? :-)
Dryden and Nieuwendyk together -- very cool!

Yeah, if the Leafs trade him ::cuss::
Another great save by Dryden!!
I'm not entirely sure what Dryden's role is with the Leafs since they eliminated the president job. He's listed as "vice-chairman of Maple Leaf Sports and Entertainment Ltd. Also, Dryden has a new role as a non-voting member of MLSEL's board of directors, increasing the board to 10. He will continue as the Leafs' alternate governor."
Sounds like he gets to go to a lot of meetings. ::snore::
Thank God. Now I can root for him again. :-}

That's excellent!
It might be time to get another jersey -- gotta love the classic maple leaf. Wonder if he'll be able to keep #25?
Larry Tannenbaum, the principle owner of the MLSE is also a Cornell grad
No one on the Leafs roster (nhl.com) has #25 now, so I imagine Joe will be able to have it.
The Leafs site has added some info about Joe, including a nice player profile (although it doesn't mention Cornell).

The Canadian Slam! site has some nice articles:

I like this part:
"With Toronto the opponent for New Jersey's home opener Oct. 16, Nieuwendyk will be there to watch the raising of the championship banner he helped the Devils win last June."

I mean, I'm happy for Joe and all, getting to play for his hometown team - but why is it that he always seems to end up with teams that I don't like? Nothing against Calgary, but Dallas, Jersey, now Toronto... watch the Leafs go and trade him to the Rangers or Habs now... :-/
Three assists for Joe in last night's big exhibition win over Djurgarden.

It's funny, but Joe is finally once again playing for a team that I do like (I liked Calgary too, never forgave the Stars for screwing Minny, and the Devils... ew).
I'm hoping that Joe gets some time in powerplay situations and after years of having his numbers depressed by defensive systems now gets a break with an offensive team. Well... I'm hoping.
BTW, Joe in Toronto is a great recruiting boon -- all those mites in the golden triangle get to hear "... from Cornell University" a few dozen times a year. Never underestimate good brainwashing.

The Leafs site has a lot of pictures of Joe:

My favorite is photo #8 from Sept 16.

My all-time favorite picture of Joe is under "Olympic Gold," here: http://www.members.cox.net/tbrwmisc/legends/nieuwendyk.html
Greg, just my opinion, but I think you should correct the "Lynch Arena" error that the hhof.com story made in the caption of the alumni team photo. :-)
Hey, it's a quote (without permission, natch). I can't correct it, though I could (sic) it.
And Dryden is still associated with the Leafs, but he isn't the President anymore. They eliminated the position. :-/
Yeah, I know, but he aint GM either so I dunno what he's called. CEO Emeritus? ::help::
