Hopefully we look a bit better tonight and can build some momentum into the Harvard weekend
Brown goalie is their backup, who came in for an injury and saved last night's win.
He was at Minnesota last year and he was the goalie who dressed as a forward when they had injury problems. He didn't get a shift, but he did serve a bench minor.
Brown PA should be beaten.
Brown's PBP crew is really funny because they know hockey, they keep pace, they're kind of entertaining to listen to especially because of how deep their New England accents are... but they are such bone-deep homers it can drive you crazy.
OMG it looks like the players outnumber the fans in the arena!

Yeah, Meehan looks empty on the broadcast
Shane just played 2 minutes without a stick and none of our guys gave him a stick. WTF?
Walsh-Psenicka-Bancroft line just played an entire shift as if on pp.
I miss the eLynah chat.
Ufda, O'Leary misses a wide open net on a rebound.
Quote from: dag14I miss the eLynah chat.
Gotta be some IM tool we could use. But I am only a caveman.
Why is there a 12-year old girl in our penalty box?
It sure looked like O'Leary was at least held or tripped before the Brown PP began
Quote from: TrotskyShane just played 2 minutes without a stick and none of our guys gave him a stick. WTF?
It seemed like almost four minutes without a stick. At one point a Cornell player handed him a stick, and then the next time play was back in the Cornell end Shane didn't have a stick anymore? His original stick had been pinned against the right hand boards but it had vanished by this point. Why didn't Cornell give the puck to Shane to cover or intentionally ice it to get a stoppage of play?

Even the homer PBP knew the "hook" by Castagna was a total phantom call.
Q up on Harvard 1-0.
I just made myself laugh out loud. They were running the Ivy ad on the ESPN+ broadcast and I thought, "that's odd, I thought they only ran those during Ivy games." Oh, you subconscious, you.
Pass... fail.
Is there still a slack channel? Or some other chat for the games? Also, is there an audio stream?
No Slack that I could find.
Castagna pokes his own rebound 5-hole past Shea to go up 1-0. We almost get a second right away when Bancroft gets in alone on a breakaway but he can't lift the puck backhand over the right pad as Shea goes butterfly.

@Chris02 -- thanks!
2-0 now. Nice.
Rego across the blue line to Fegaras for a slap shot, tipped by Seger. 2-0 good guys.
And while I'm typing, Penney skates between the circles and fires through a screen to go up 3-0. About 12 minutes left in the second period.
3-0 now. :)
Our ability to explode like this is so cool.
That was a very comedic display of defense to let Penney walk in like that
Rego to the sin bin.
Quote from: IcebergThat was a very comedic display of defense to let Penney walk in like that
Looked they tried to make a Big Fat Goalie Voltron in the crease with the defensemen.
Anyway, again while i was typing, Shane gave up a rebound on the PK and Brown tapped it in.
I like the Brown PBP guy. He does the entire job by himself (no color guy), he is complimentary of the opposing team, he has a good voice, he conveys excitement, and he does all this while covering a team that rarely ever wins.
I agree. And he is equally enthusiastic by goals for either team.
2 centers on our #1 pp unit, is that unusual? Helps with faceoffs.
I really like how Walsh is so unhurried and patient. He's so confident.

He hasn't even been a homer tonight.
There toAGAIN while I'm typing, Fegaras skates down from the blue line and wrists one past Shea right after the expiration of the PP. 4-1.
Quote from: ugartehasn't even been a homer tonight.
As i was saying, he credited Castagna for a big open ice hit being clean and hasn't complained about any of the whistles against Brown. He even said that the penalty that was just called (while i was typing!) was ticky-tack, as was (he reiterated) the Castagna hook.
Unwritten Law. Be interesting to see if he gets a third period house call.

It's been 25 years and I still have St. Louis PTSD.
Did Suda come back?
4-1 after 2. Dominant period. Really fun to watch.

yes
I'm in the mood for a little third period keopple

He was also heavily complimentary of Suda for his blocked shot. I think he's been a really good and fair announcer TBH.

i feel like he used to have a color guy and maybe he was the problem? I've loved his call of this one.

I respect the hockey gods and never attempt to manipulate them. I simply give them what they appear to desire. In this case, you missing our goals because you are typing.
Donaldson, making his season debut, is listed as the extra skater. But he appears to have taken Psenicka's spot on the Walsh-Bancroft line. However, Psenicka has been on the ice too, at least on some PKs.
St. Louis is clearly Brown's best player and is getting way overshifted. It's a little mysterious how the Northeastern transfer and USNTDP alum ended up at Brown. Good for Brown, though. After scoring tonight, St. Louis has 5 goals in under 4 games.
Penalty Box Girl speed dating continues.

Botherill seems really good too.
If anyone has privileges could you invite me to the slack? Send me a PM. I know it's been some time since I've been really active. Most of my messages are from back around 98 or so :)

Lucky bounce to Seger who gets the puck with nothing but open ice and he cashes in the breakaway. 5-1.
I was watching.
Someone likes to say "Uppsala Sweden." (Actually, everyone likes to say it!)
OOP-sala.

Us scoring on a breakaway was weird.
Brown being toyed with now. The pass resulting in that 7th goal was fantastic
Cornell keeps it in the zone, it gets down low to Wallace (I think) who slides it across the crease to a wide open Devlin for the easy tap-in.
And of course... Kovich to Walsh while i was typing.
7-1.
Having been away from forums for far too long, as I'm reading Trotsky's posts, I'm thinking, this makes me feel like I'm back at the games in person. Ah, of course.

As a bruins fan I'm loving this Walsh success lol

We could just set up a group text!
What is wrong with keeping things confined to this forum? It's nice to have a record of everybody's posts after the fact if you weren't following/chatting live. I'd rather not splinter the community across multiple different mediums.

I set up the slack a while ago. It was largely abandoned but I'm happy to set up more admins and get it going again if people want.

Benefit of discord is messages are saved forever for free and there's voice chats which is nice, but slack is fine too
I like discord and I use it a lot for other things. I don't use slack, though I know it's a popular work app.
I just want to emphasize that using one of these programs will, at least in the case of discord, likely spell the end of this forum.
When I accessed the Lynah chat during a game, I also had the forum open in a different window. The real time dialogue of the chat was the next best thing after sitting at a game with a friend and commenting on the action. That is what I miss in its absence. And because it was a discreet community, it was really like having a conversation with friends. Unlike Twitter or X or whatever.
The men and women defeated Yale and Brown this weekend by a combined score of 21-4.

We've had instant messaging before. It may help recruit some younger fans to eLynah. We are fairly, um, aged.

Hey. Some of us age unfairly.

I was surprised to see that 7 is the most goals scored on the road by the men since the Ryan Vesce Game at Princeton twenty years ago.

Instant messaging/chat room, sure. But discord is basically a whole forum, with threads and subthreads. The difference being that it facilitates real time train of thought chatting rather than longer posts like a forum. My general view is that this community is small enough that I'd prefer to keep it in one place. I think discord would supplant, not supplement, this site.
Though, it is true that actual current students would be much more inclined to join a discord than a forum...
there is a level of people that will use Discord.. But there is a level that will avoid it much like We have thrown slack out the window at work.
