Title: Cornell field hockey 2023 season
Post by: dbilmes on October 22, 2023, 08:53:15 AM
The field hockey team deserves some kudos. It has won 10 of its last 11 games, and has already clinched a spot in the inaugural Ivy tournament. Cornell is tied with Penn for second place in the Ivies with a 4-1 record, and can clinch a share of the title and the top seed in the league tournament with a win at Harvard on Saturday. All-American Caroline Ramsay is one of the best players in the country and has scored a school-record 21 goals, including 7 game-winners. Goalie Martha Broderick has three shutouts in the last four games, including several highlight-reel saves in Cornell's most recent game, a 1-0 win over Brown. Cornell hosts BU on Senior Day today (Sunday).
It's nice to see a Cornell women's team -- besides the hockey team and sometimes the lacrosse team -- having such a great season. The field hockey team is ranked 17th in the national poll, it's highest ranking ever. It also has split two games against Syracuse this season. Syracuse is currently ranked No. 13. Harvard is No. 11.

To update my previous post, Cornell beat BU 6-0 today. Ramsey had three more goals and it was Cornell's fourth shutout in five games.

Harvard scored with two seconds remaining, on a rebound, to win 2-1.
