I'm still out here reading and checking and the last few times there hasn't been anything new. That never happens. ::snore::
In light of not having much to talk about, perhaps we can goad Blonde or Stovey Von-Hottenberg into arguing about whether we overanalyze things. ::yark::
Just a thought.

Harvard sucks!
You can go poke around the new forum to amuse yourself. The beta release should be coming along soon. It will at least be feature-complete, at which point I'll probably make the switch. Certainly is much faster :-)

Looks terrific, Age.:-)
Ooooh, it is faster! Nice!
And I thoroughly agree with your announcement ::nut::

Or you could come over to the USCHO Cafe and help Greg and I fight McCarthyism ;-).

I knew there was a reason I avoid the Cafe. Thanks for reminding me. ::uhoh::
Looks excellent, Age -- thank you very much from all of us.
Can you throw the "days until the first game" counter back up on it? It helps get through a summer where the Mets are 24 1/2 GB.
BTW, "Set CHDB Preferences..." did not work when I tried it.

Age, I am assuming that the increase in speed is due to your throwing in the towel and buying a nice fast Wintel box! And I am sure that both forum users who access E-Lynah on their Macs are interested in knowing what software you are using and what you will be transitioning to.;-)
Even Neanderthals like me who build their own PC's for fun and self-flagellation are occasionally interested in software.:-D

Wintel? Bleh. Real men use unix.
Like Age, I just happen to prefer to use Cupertino-flavored unix.
Seriously though, NextStep 6.2 (aka OSX 10.2.x) is the best OS I've ever used. Can you show me another machine that lets me publish my CV from Word directly to PDF without additional software, edit photos for my website using Photoshop, prototype the PHP used to dynamically generate my website using a locally running instance of Apache while previewing the site in either IE or Mozilla? Did I mention that it cost under $1000, weighs less than 5 pounds and runs for over 5 hours in the real world on a single charge ?
But computers are only tools; what works for me may not work for you. Attempting to use your choice of computer platform to validate your self-image is as pointless as arguing whether my chevy pickup is better than your ford because Dale Jr did or didn't win this weekend.
For the record if I were younger I would likely get a kick out of Unix myself. I wish I had the time to learn so much more than I do that I could just :`( .
There's always Linix, in the comfort of your own home. :-)

Actually, it's running on the same server. Just the new version of Phorum, which is the underlying message board package that eLF uses. The new version is completely rewritten, faster, and will have some cool new features. The server is still a PowerMac G4 (dual 533) running MacOS X Server 10.2. Hopefully phpa (a php accelerator) will be offered for MacOS X in the near future, which will speed things up more. I'm still planning on moving eLynah to a co-loc server I'm hoping to set up with my dual 450 once I get a new G5 to replace it.
Incidentally, the performance problems with eLF had nothing to do with the hardware, just a less-than-optimally designed database in Phorum 3.
The counter is still on the main eLynah page.

You need to reload the main page after changing the CHDB prefs. I think the first one is the default. Not exactly a good interface to set the prefs. I was kind of just playing around with it. I'm sure I'll improve it before the final version of CHDB, which should be, oh, fall of 2035 perhaps?
