Title: Let's go to the videotape
Post by: ugarte on July 12, 2003, 07:06:07 PM
So I finally watched the Cornell-Brown ECAC semifinal game. (Thanks for the tape, Jim.)

I need other people to confirm that I am not seeing things.  Travis Bell (I think, but I am nowhere near my VCR to check right now) took a shot that the refs and the broadcasters thought went off of the crossbar.   I checked the comments on the game from the archives, and nobody commented on the shot at all, but . . .

they replayed the shot during the intermission, and even though nobody commented on it, both my brother and I are 100% certain that the shot went in, hit the top of the net and came out without getting a red light.

Could someone else please check this for me?

I just checked the tape, slowed it down, and I believe the puck bounced against the boards just above the cross bar, and came back over the crossbar into the top of the crease.

...ALTHOUGH, even as I write this, I'm watching it over and over again, and the net does look like it moves a bit, doesn't it? Maybe it did go in after all....anyone else have the tape? (they replay the shot toward the end of the first intermission)

Thanks for checking. I watched again and you are absolutely right.  The shot shown at intermission was the one that went off of the endboards and came out right into the slot.
