Partial to Maine blue on blue
That first goal was a terrible giveaway followed by a recovery and a second terrible giveaway. Shane hung out to dry.
Sloppy play from the Clarkson goalie who lost the puck as it went behind the net and Wallace fed it right to Malone in the slot. Goalie barely able to even react to the shot and Malone found the open space.
Clarkson 1 Cornell 1
13:58 1st period
Malone, Winter
Malone picking a good time to play the best hockey of his career.
General sense so far is that Clarkson is passing well in the offensive zone and backchecking effectively. We're getting a little discombobulated and falling back on a habit I hate of trying to skate and stickhandle through danger. On the other hand, we look faster and more skilled generally and hopefully skill will win out.
Each team pressuring while the other tries to clear their zone. Each team making mistakes. It's pretty chaotic out there; entertaining but I'm sure Mike and Casey hated it.
PWR 58 Yale 1
PWR 2 Quinnipiac 0
Clarkson 1 Cornell 2
6:10 2nd
Berard, Seger, Dirven
Clarkson 2 Cornell 2
12:54 2nd period
Martino, Gosselin, Campbell
I wouldn't be surprised if they kick out Malinski for that. The dude had his head down but this is college, so...
Udfa, he deserved a GM.
Does a GM mean that Malinski is also out for tomorrow, or only the rest of tonight's game?
Major and Game Misconduct for 'Hitting Too Hard'

PPG Campbell, Callin, Gosselin

Yuck
Malinsky penalty was obvious. Shoulder to the head. Even if he didn't put a li'l mustard on it, on replay it sure looked to me like he put a li'l mustard on it. Not at all surprised that it was a GM, agreeing (and modestly respectfully disagreeing) with Trotsky all over this game thread.
I had the game on mute while watching the hoops W over Dartmouth so I didn't even see what the coincidental Clarkson minor was for, but without looking it up I'm going to guess that somebody took a run at Sam.

GQ Game Disqualification
The DQ is the penalty that results in the player penalized by being disqualified from the next game.

Exactly right.
That's one way to draw a penalty.
That goal brought to you by Seger's work.
Nice recursive scoreboard, too.
Clarkson 3 Cornell 3
9:57 3 rd period
PPG Berard, Seger, Andreev
Ugh. That was on Shane.
Clarkson 4 Cornell 3
11:41 2nd period
PPG Martino Gosselin Callin
How???
Quote from: TrotskyHow???
Poor defensive game. I don't think any of the pairings had a particularly spotless night. And even then, the game was still within reach
Quote from: TrotskyUgh. That was on Shane.
Way, way, WAY too many rebounds off the chest.
Not like Clarkson generated a ton of good chances off their shots..
Cornell probably 5+ that really looked they had to go in and stayed out.

I didn't mean how did we lose. I watched it, I know how.
I meant how did Bancroft not score. I watched it, I still don't know how.

I think he got too worried about putting the puck over the goalie's pad (that never even got there) and he basically shot the puck straight up.
Yeah, I'm amazed these rinks don't have overhead cameras. It was damn hard to tell whether or not Bancroft's attempt was actually a goal. It sure looked like the puck hit the top of the net and bounced out.

the net didn't flinch so i have to believe it hit iron. we had a couple that couldn't possibly stay out except they did.
too many rebounds and nobody to clear them. shane is not facing a lot of shots but the shots he faces are high-quality and he's got to smother them, not just stop them. ugly loss.
They do have overhead cameras.. And as we discussed last week where they showed replays that hurt Cornell tonight we didnt see the replays from the over head views.
Maybe it stayed out refs didnt want to go look at a key play in the game, but they wanted to review the .3 on the clock
We need a goalie, man

Schafer didn't even seem that upset/adamant about them reviewing that one, although Andreev was extremely animated, forcing one of the refs to watch the replay on the scoreboard (which they rewound and showed in slow-mo, multiple times) with him during one of the stoppages soon after it happened.
Schafer was more upset about the missed interference call that led directly to the 4th Clarkson goal: he was still on the ref's case about that one during the handshake line.
Easy choice as most frustrating loss of the year. Hard to fathom that we didn't get the tying goal on multiple occasions.
And yes, Shane needs to be better.
Just come out and win tomorrow.
With all games complete, we stay in 12.
Apparently Clarkson has improved a great deal since the beginning of the year.
Well we also lost to them at the beginning of the year so that isn't too comforting

On this one I disagreed with Schafer - skating backwards into a Clarkson skater who's not skating toward you then hitting him and falling does not an interference infraction make.

I watched the replay very carefully. There's no doubt the Clarkson skater was intentionally setting a pick. He was subtle about directing himself perfectly into Tucker's path, but it was intentional. Casey noticed something and they took the chance.
Should we expect to see steinberg back at all this season? It would be sick if he played tonight for senior night but that would surprise me.

Per the daily sun: "It was clear that it was close, but it wasn't in," Schafer said
Might as well hold him out until the QF, TBH. Give him the extra 2 weeks.
