Dartmouth, who only lost to us 1-0 at Lynah (http://www.tbrw.info/seasons/2023/box20221203.pdf), comes off a road sweep.

Looking at their schedule, they have a LOT of close losses. They're 4-15-1, which is extremely bad, but their goal differential is only -22 over 20 games, which is still bad. But not 4-15-1 bad.
Similarly, they are 3-9-1 in conference with a -8 differential.
Apparently Dartmouth is honoring Bob Gaudet tomorrow night. It's too bad it's not tonight because that would've been nice...for science...and clipboards
Malinski and Penney with early goals, 2-0. We are outshooting Dartmouth 13-4 halfway through the first.
The second half of the first period is Dartmouth sacrificing any offense to play cautious D.
After 1:
Cornell 2 Dartmouth 0
Colgate 2 Harvard 2
Clarkson 2 St. Lawrence 0
Andreev, 3-0 midway through the game. Max's 20th career goal.
Have I mentioned that Dartmouth is my least favorite ECAC team because they are constant goons?
Berard hits 2 posts on a major pp. End 2:
Cornell 3 Dartmouth 0
Colgate 4 Harvard 2
Clarkson 2 St. Lawrence 1

Speaking of goons, their prison mate sweaters fit the role. They are sooooo ugly.
Shots are 34-10 and the Dartmouth announcers just compared our puck movement to the Soviets'.
Black has mastered the Colgate Net Off the Moorings ploy.
3-2, 30 seconds to go, Dartmouth empty net.
St Lawrence scores an empty net goal to go up by 2 with a minute or so left vs. Clarkson.
And Colgate loses in OT to Harvard after Harvard scores with less than a minute left in the 3rd to tie it.
yikes too close for comfort. great job by mitchell to block a centering feed with 10 seconds left.
Way more drama than necessary, but we get the job done. Dartmouth goalie kept them in the game and made it interesting.
Finals:
Cornell 3 Dartmouth 2 (phew)
Harvard 5 Colgate 4 (ot)
St. Lawrence 4 Clarkson 2
Mike will talk to the lads about 60 minutes of focus and work ethic.
Dartmouth definitely had some momentum after the killed major but a bit closer than it needed to be, especially with all the lost faceoffs at the end
I've been watching a lot of games on a tablet without sound. Who got hit on the major, and did they get back on the ice?
DeSantis took the hit. He seemed fine.
Quote from: Scersk '97DeSantis took the hit. He seemed fine.
he was down for a few seconds but by the time the refs came back from the video review all seemed ok and he was taking shifts before the penalty was over

.795 Cor 10-3-0
.689 Hvd 12-3-0
.667 Cgt 9-4-0
.538 SLU 7-6-0
that would have been a tough loss to dominate like that for 55 min and screw it up..
played them twice held them to 11 and 15 shots and both ended up squeakers.

I'm going to broach this subject in the begging mode: PLEASE PLEASE stop putting the final score in the thread title.
I was going to try to watch in the morning. I can come to this forum in my usual Pavlovian manner without clicking on the game thread, but when you update the thread title with the score, it RUINS THINGS. No need for that.

Agreed. I clicked on the elynah tab in my browser by mistake and had all the drama ruined for me as well.

Cosign. I frequently watch games on delay too.

I am very very sorry!!! I genuinely feel terrible. It literally never occurred to me; I'll not do it again.
These comments gave me eLynah nostalgia as there was some animated back and forth discussion about posting game scores in the title 16 years ago (see this thread) (http://elf.elynah.com/read.php?1,86084,86800#msg-86800) back when people were still using VCRs and getting a decent online stream was a bit more of challenge, still, as they say, it was a simpler time. Back then if you couldn't follow the game in real time and wanted to relive it as it unfolded, scrolling the game thread here was really the only place you could do it.
Quote from: Dpperk29just a simple request to those following the games on elynah. since today's game is televised, can you please not put the score in the thread title? I plan on taping it and watching it late tonight.

I mean it's a forum for Cornell hockey discussion. You should probably stay away if you don't want to know the score
This makes more sense now that time shifting video is easily available, but before that if you wanted to read the story you had to pick up the book, you just didn't want to be forced to start on the last page if you wanted a little suspense.

A hundred thanks for understanding and not taking my late-night ALL CAPS the wrong way, and I'm sorry I made you feel terrible. I was only aiming for slightly bad. :-)
No, it's clear you weren't posting it with malice -- I just assumed it was OCD reasons. I hadn't even noticed that you had started doing it until my eLF reflex commanded my browser to the Forum last night. Apparently we haven't discussed it in 16 years, and now that it's easy to time shift a game (even mid-game)...well, I appreciate that we're living in a wonderful tech era.
Im pretty much in the boat now that if i dont know want to know how a game played out watch it first then come to the board.

the request is "don't change the thread title, not "don't post about the game." there's an easy middle ground here.

That's exactly right. And there's plenty of other topics of discussion here besides that night's game. That's why there are threads.
I mean, if the hockey game threads were anything like the lacrosse game threads, I wouldn't even worry about finding out the score.
Im on the other end of this. I think posts that say "goal Berard, 1-0 Cornell" are basically spam. I can see that on the live stats or the box score - adds nothing of value.
