At that price, it should include Taylor Swift

Cornell is #18 in pairwise, AIC is #33. Which is still ahead of Princeton and St. Lawrence, also ahead of Clarkson, Union, Colgate, RPI, Brown (those five #41-#45) plus Yale and Dartmouth ahead of only Alaska Anchorage and #62 Stonehill. In theory, Cornell should do well both nights.
The AIC sweaters are sweet. Let's admit them and kick out Q.

Given the 1st period score, they must think they're Q
We're dominating and losing 2-0. Interesting.
We dominate play and go down 2-0 in the first 10 minutes. Got one back late in the period. 2-1 after one. Our announcers sound as if the outcome is not in doubt. Once the afterburners kick in.
firewagon second period and it's 5-3 Big Red with 4:30 left in the period.

It's been entertaining for sure. AIC's defense helps us look like an offensive juggernaut
The win puts us in 16th PWR.
What was the deal with that 4th AIC goal? Were they reviewing to see if it was kicked in?
Quote from: IcebergWhat was the deal with that 4th AIC goal? Were they reviewing to see if it was kicked in?
That must've been the issue. Hard to tell from the replay, but however it went in it didn't come from the stick.
Fourth AIC goal did not appear to come from the shooter's stick. It could have been kicked in by the AIC skater or possibly off the skate of the Cornell goalie, ex-AIC goalie, Ryan McInchak, who'd been in for about 20 seconds. Too bad. 8-3 sounds like a Cornell blow-out, 8-4 sounds like a high-scoring game that Cornell controlled.

I disagree.
So what was up with the AIC 4 man weave.. several times they played D with just 4 guys and let cornell have at it while the 5th was hanging out at the other blue line..Cornell just kept cycling the puck for 30-45 secs.. They did that multiple times.. Dont recall the last time I saw a team do that consistently.
The only 2 bad things I saw:
1. The glass Stienburg is chipped again.
2. Shane gives up 3 goals on just 11 shots.
I just want us to win again tonight. 9-5 / 5-3 / 16 PWR is fine to start the new year and gives us a platform to take off from.

In a vacuum from all other possible results, a win tonight puts us at 13 PWR.
I dont think you can fault Shane on 2 of the goals and the 3rd was a 3 on 1 that the guy made a nice shot on though I would think Shane probably thinks he should save it.
3 goals but also several good saves to keep it at 3 goals with a couple odd man breaks and a break away save.
Cornell being down was the heavy aggressor all game and easily could have had 4-5 more with the quality of the chances.
Last year. Berard's shooting reminded me of Alex DeBrincat. Last night, his passing was like Patrick Kane's. Both his assists were gorgeous. I thought the team puck and player movement in the offensive zone was much improved from earlier in the season.
The previous-high-scorers-unaccountably-quiet-this-year looked great in general last night. The only absent one was poor Matt.
Fun stat of the night courtesy of CU's page:
Quote from: Cornell extended its unbeaten streak in home games played on Thursdays to 14. The Big Red is 13-0-1 dating back to the beginning of the streak, which began on Nov. 28, 1963. Isn't this the hockey version of "parking the bus (https://youtu.be/8U6IlXFKKzE)"? The other team is better, so you clog things up to prevent scores at your own goal, and you plan on a counter-attack to score a goal yourself. In this case, the guy hanging out by the blue line leads the counter.
IIRC, this strategy was quite common when teams visited Lynah in the the late 1960s, almost always to no avail.

I don't know but if last night was an indication, it's a great way to go 30-45 seconds at a time watching Cornell control the puck.
Thing is, AIC is not terrible. They came in 10-7-4, comfortably second in their conference and with some votes in the national polls. But other than two fluky goals they had zero pressure on us. They were quite content to allow us to hold the puck, move it around, and get an astonishing number of great looks. 8 was the low end of what Cornell's kind of dominance last night would typically put up.

Do you remember what time I'm the game that was? I didn't notice on first viewing and want to go back and rewatch that 4 man thing
I dont remember when. But I do know it happened in the 1st and 3rd because I was wondering where the other 2 players were as we cycled it.. I was thinking we were in a line change then i saw the AIC guy looping around the other blue line and our D watching him.
Hey, I've seen this one...
We must've decided playing crappy defense to start the game was a winning formula, because that AIG goal was about as easy a goal as there is.
If you want to see the AIC Weave you can just watch now. Except they aren't using 4 this time.
They're using all 5.
Everyone on both sides is so sloppy.

I love that Cornell is moving right from turnover to transition and not setting up behind the net. I hope they continue with that tactic.
We have skills and speed to play up tempo.
OK so I am watching on ESPN+ but through my cable provider, Xfinity. I can't seem to find the setting to turn off the closed captioning using my remote. It's just not there. I didn't change anything from last night where there was no CC. Thoughts?
It's not a big deal but the are a lot of I Sing infractions and a Car Deli scored two goals. :)
Malinsky pantsed on the third AIC goal.

Tough night for Sam
Chance to tie on another PP. Bancroft has been pretty invisible tonight.
I need to see slomo on the second Cornell goal. I think DeSantis may have whiffed on the high stick and then tapped it in from the doorstep but it may have just been a ricochet after Psenicka's shot popped in the air.
A couple of ugly PP's. As Ugarte might say, there has been zero crispness in our play tonight

That's what I'm talking about. Passes to the slot that should've led to excellent scoring chances that didn't connect.
great pass from Bancroft to the front for Psenizca to tie it up with just over a minute left.
It's not a league game, can we play adult overtime?

That's what I thought happened too. Grady was going on and on about the high stick, but I think DeSantis missed on the high stick swipe
God 3x3 is so pathetic.
Do we have to do the shit out when there are no points on the line?
Can't we just decline the shootout?
Please kill whichever MBA came up with this imbecilic garbage.

I think Grady missed the poke at ice level. His point appeared to be *if* it was DeSantis, it was a high stick but he agreed that DeSantis missed up high and expected a scoring change to Psenicka who took the shot that may have bounced off of a defenseman's shoulder or something like that.
I could have sworn DeSantis waved and missed with the high stick and the puck dribbled in off his arm.

watched the highlights on youtube and i still can't figure out who it hit off of because the highlights don't include the camera angle from behind the goal. I can't slow down the ESPN replay on that shot to follow the puck.
AIC goal made ESPN top 10 plays
Did anyone catch what had Schafer so livid shortly after the the 2nd DeSantis goal? He was a lot more animated and screaming a lot more aggressively than typical Schafer, to the point of grabbing someone's stick and bashing against the boards until it broke. We just couldn't figure out who/what it was directed at.
It looked like he was possibly yelling at Mack on the bench soon after he broke the stick, but I'm not sure if that was related to the first "eruption." It seemed especially odd that it happened right after we scored.

thanks this is exactly what i was looking for. you can't see it enter the net, really, but you can basically figure out that it hits the defenseman's arm on the way down. a black puck hits a black jersey and the first person to see it deflect is desantis.

This is as clear.as.i can make the image.
You can also see the Desantis eyes looking exactly that point where the puck in the stick come together, but it's cropped out of this image

See my pic. It's the stick.
After it hits his stick, it goes downwards towards the ice but actually hits the side of the goalies right leg pad, pops back in to the air but is still moving backwards and goes up and over the line
