Hockey great, Brian Cornell '69, passed away on July 22 from ongoing health complications related to muscular dystrophy. He sadly joins a list of Cornell hockey legends no longer with us - Dan Lodboa, John Hughes, Harry Orr, Mike Doran, both Ferguson twins. As both an undergrad and grad student, I was fortunate to have seen them all play.
Here's coach Schafer's note - "It is with great sadness to pass along the news of the passing of Brian Cornell. Brian was one of the legends of Cornell Hockey as he won a National Championship, one of the top all-time scorers, Cornell Athletics Hall of Fame and two time All American. He has been one of our biggest supporters of Cornell Hockey for many years and was always challenging myself to think of doing things differently with an eye of constant improvement. He will be missed many."
.
Watching these guys play and win, even driving for hours to away games, was a significant* part of my Cornell experience.
