Title: Postseason honors
Post by: dbilmes on March 09, 2022, 02:51:09 PM
The ECAC is unveiling the men's postseason honors (https://cornellbigred.com/news/2022/3/9/mens-ice-hockey-kempf-andreev-garner-all-ecac-hockey-honors.aspx) over the course of two days. So far, we have Kempf on All-Rookie team and Andreev on All-ECAC third team. The Ivies (https://cornellbigred.com/news/2022/3/9/mens-ice-hockey-four-from-mens-hockey-collect-all-ivy-league-honors.aspx) also released their postseason honors, with Harvard sweeping all of the top honors. Malinski got first team, Betts second team and Shane and Stienburg honorable mention.

Cripe, the Ivy League releases third-team (and rookies) and saves 1st and 2nd teams for another day? This is not demand-driven by the audience, like say a new song a day to build anticipation for Taylor Swift's new album, 32-Going-On-16.

I guess this means Ian Shane will not be ECAC goalie of the year. Unless each coach gets to pick one game for consideration as in, See ya, Quinnipiac.

The Ivy League releases everything the same day. The ECAC is spreading its announcements out over two days, which is what it did for the women's hockey honors last week.

In the ECAC post about about Malinski being nominated for the best defensive defenseman, it said he "was also near the top of the lineup in minutes." I've never seem this stat for Cornell. Anyone know it it's available anywhere?

All of the ECAC First team comes from the top 4 teams, and only 1 is a Senior.  I'm hopeful the conference as a whole, and the conference leaders, improve next year and move into national contention.
