eLynah: Better matches than Tinder.
Someone start a game thread. No where else to put this but Cornell is wearing their whites.
More injuries:
Andreev
Kovich
Haiskanen
Berard
Ertel
Lagerstrom
In for them:
Mack
Motley
Bramwell
Suda
Myzyka career debut.
Rayhill and McIntyre are the only guys who haven't suited up.
I didn't catch all of the warmup, but Howe was in goal for the last set of shots, so I think he may be getting the start.
Scratch the above. Shane in goal.
Not me, this could be the Groundhog Day game, just with white jerseys the second time around.
LGR
GLR - good luck, Red
Oh fuck I hate this rule.
Mack has not scored yet but he's in the right place often.
"Cornell is 0–2–0 in February when tied after zero periods" — That's the statistic Grady should be citing
This is chaotic but it's fun.
Apropos of chitchat, the announcers were mentioning that NHL analyst Pierre McGuire was a four sport star at Hobart and they could not recall Pierre's fourth sport at the school.
Try "drinking."

They were wearing white in Hamilton on Friday due to Colgate's special 3rd jerseys.
Thirds almost always suck but these are amazing.
The struggle on the PK continues (unless there was an offsides)
JEOPARDY has to die.
Looked offside from the angle shown on tv...
Good pressure.
Up tempo *and* big hitting. Damn this is fun.

Long ago I picked up a Brenzavich gamer that was basically this design, but reversed to be a home white.

They are supposed to be "90s throwbacks."
Ufda, atrocious pp this time so far.

I wouldn't mind a throwback to Matt Weder.
I think Colgate's had more odd-man rushes the past 7 minutes than we gave up in the entire 2019-20 season
Welp. Shame they are still in it because I have no problem with our play tonight.
Frustrating Andreev is out, this is the ideal game for him.

That's right. But those were retro Jerseys? They kind of seem like what Colgate has always been wearing. IN general, I thought it was the 1970s wehre hockey teams had the most oddball unis. I don't think you can blame disco. Wasn't that also when Sears Roebuck created the Olympic-gear for Team USA and it was embarrassing?

It's been entertaining, but not classic Cornell hockey, at least defensively.
For three seasons in the 70s Cornell wore eye-gougingly ugly sweaters. I swear to Ba'al these (https://cornellbigred.com/images/2011/2/21/1973-74_MIH.jpg?width=1600) are what ended our National dynasty.

Agreed. Really bizzare to see this many grade-A chances against.
The Jack O'Leary Show.
We've been splendid even strength. We need this pp to convert now.
I haven't seen faceoff stats, but like last night it seems Colgate is dominating at the dot.

26-19 Cornell.
Come on, Brendon!

Well my perception is clearly wrong.
How Locke didn't score there I have no idea.

I assume he heeled it. So unlucky.
Did the attendance policy change for the thousandth time this season? Appears to be a lot more people tonight than previously.

No, they are just all grouped together thus defeating the whole purpose of limiting admission.

Covid positivity rate in Tompkins County yesterday was 2.4%, and statewide it was under 4%, so the Omicron threat is greatly diminished up there. But it's nice to see the fans adhering to the masking rule nonetheless.
O'Leary is going to draw a bunch of penalties with his speed.
So here we are, here we are again.
Just nothing going on the PP. I have no idea why Psenicka isn't out there with his big body and his ability to score on deflections.

Yup (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4TyvVzNdmp8).
Good crowd despite the best efforts of the Cornell administration. Too bad the on-ice product is complete garbage.
i'm going to become the joker
Why does this feel like Groundhog Day?
We are, somehow, still in 4th by a good amount. Gotta get healthy and get on a good little roll, to quote a kinda alright former Mets coach who shall remain nameless.
Uh, because Bill Murray reprised Groundhog Day to hawk Jeep Gladiators? And then I've been driving (testing, not buying) a Punk'n Orange Gladiator out Richford way, east of Ithaca off Route 79, which made me think of GHD a day early. And tomorrow we'll wake up to a nightmare: That we finish the season in fifth or sixth and get to play one of the backmarkers who've beaten us in the new year?

Wrong! There was clearly a much larger crowd tonight. I'm not sure how it happened.

Yep. Clearly much different crowd size restrictions last night as compared to the prior two weekends. Seemed like they were allowing full or almost full capacity.

Bulkier parkas, maybe. With bulky wineskins underneath? It got down to 3 degrees F Saturday evening in Ithaca. Or maybe the Colgate crowd travels well? Or the trick of digital imagery to sample one crowded section of an area and past that into every section.
they didnt sell more tickets. could be just more season ticket holders actually came being only 1 game this weekend.

Pretty sure they sold more tickets. Last night's attendance was listed at 3201, as compared to each of the previous four games which were listed at 2133. Last night also appeared at least 50% more full than each of the prior four games, including on the student side (no season tickets).

I think they --DID-- actually sell more tickets.
The previous two weekends there was language in multiple places saying that they would not be selling tickets to non-students. One of the places this language appeared was the Cornell ticketing website.
This week, at least on the website, there was language indicating that they WOULD be selling tickets, and when they would be going on sale. (I think they were to go on sale Tuesday or Wednesday.)
So while that is not 100% solid evidence that they did sell more tickets, it is pretty strong evidence that they at least intended to.

Yep, I was definitely wrong. I was going by what Grady said on ESPN+ that attendance was still the rote 2133, but they absolutely upped it.
Just go to a full house. The fuckwits who still aren't vaxxed know what they want and deserve to get it good and hard.

Wrong again... I was in attendance at Lynah last evening.... With our naked eyes, my wife & I both agreed the crowd size was significantly larger. It was a pleasure to see.

As recently as three years ago they still had one of those hanging in the locker room.

The ones that followed were similarly awful.
The history of hockey-coach portraits includes one plaid sports coat, that in the 1970s. No disco ball or platform shoes.

Quote from: George64For those too young to remember, here's a picture of Cornell's 1973-76 jersey referenced above — easily the ugliest ever. If my recall is correct, it was designed as a Hum Ec class project. Why it lasted three years is beyond me.
There was a lengthy discussion of these and other jersey designs back in December 2011.
.
I'd take the single C if they bring back the hairstyles too (https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/b/b2/Cornell_ice_hockey_team_1900%E2%80%9301.jpg?1644184446909).
Note Charles Day's goalie pads (bottom right).
