We don't have a thread to post weekly/monthly awards yet, which is a shame since CU is piling some up. I'll start with this:

As always, a terrific job by Adam. Nice to get so of Schafer's insights about the team, especially the goaltending situation.
Love the bald guy in the UND jersey, eyes closed, arms folded, scowling behind the celebrating CU players.

Again, I'm quite sad I didn't get to go but I do not regret my decision.
Unsuccessfully tried to attach a link. I'll keep trying.
Andreev and Stienburg on the initial list of Hobey Baker candidates. (https://hobeybaker.com/2022-nominees/)

Matt Galajda? *flicks cigarette* I haven't heard that name in years.

Best sweater in the game.
The coaching staff has done an unbelievable job so far this season. Cornell is at such a competitive disadvantage compared to the teams who played last season (nearly all of them). Schafer deserves COTY if the season ended today.

For sure!
probably gonna come down to whether we beat Quin. if they finish the season like they started it wont really matter that we played well.
Shane one of 28 [!] on the Richter watch list: https://www.uscho.com/2022/01/20/watch-list-announced-of-28-goalies-for-2022-mike-richter-award-as-top-netminder-in-ncaa-d-i-mens-hockey/

Two Notre Dame goalies, Ryan Bischel and Matt Galajda, among those named.

Decide it in Boston.
Just give it to Perets (https://www.uscho.com/2022/02/18/mike-richter-award-watch-list-increases-from-28-to-32-goaltenders-for-2022-college-hockey-award/).
These are Perets' numbers:
22 games
10 shutouts
0.84 GAA
.953 Sv%
Stop the fight.

Hell, just rename the award for him. Better to win an award named for someone who was actually a superlative college goaltender.
Perets' backup got his 4th shutout last night. He's 6th in the NCAA; 2nd in GAA (1.21).
Shane is 7th in the NCAA in GAA (1.84) and 8th in Sv% (.928) so that aint the problem.

So it's the system?
Are there any advanced metrics out there that (at least) purport to separate out GAA/save percentage from the quality and volume of shot attempts?
In soccer you could at look at the xG of the shot attempts on a given goalie to see how much they under/overachieved expectation.
Anything similar for hockey? (Bearlover?)
Also, is there a stat that looks at the effects of rebound control? Save percentage doesn't track whether the save is held right or if it generates a rebound--id think that the goalie generating more rebounds would give up more goals than the one with better rebound control?
Is it the system? Or is it a good team and a terrible schedule. Other than UND, with whom they split, they have played no one good.

Beat Q in overtime.

What year did they split with North Dakota?
Q split with UND this season. I was referring to Q.

I should really pay more attention to things.
They haven't played a ton of good teams, but they give up like no goals, so they're at least very good.
Definitely good but not sure how good.
