Title: First ND Game Thread

I'll bite. I guess with the recent record no one's interested.

I didn't want to start it, that's for sure.

Is the NCHCTV feed running for anybody and if so in what browser?

6 minutes before the first whistle, solid play by both teams.

Berard and Stienberg both out.

Announcers just said UND at CU first weekend in January 2023.

But I don't know what that means. 12/31 & 1/1 or were they incorrect and it's 1/13 & 14?

North Dakota may as well have five forwards out there most of the time. Sanderson is definitely the real deal

12-2 in shots that period.  NoDak playing very well.  We're still in it, though.

NoDak's puck possession is most impressive. We'll have to raise our game in the 3rd.

Shane looks solid enough in a tough environment for his 1st career start.

Tough turnaround there, from almost tied to 3-1 and a NoDak pp.

I didn't think that was much of a penalty live, but on replay, good call.

Disagree with announcer here. He didn't turn his back at the last second.

For those who were wondering about Andreev's goal:

26.2 Net Dislodgement - In the event that the goal post is displaced, either
deliberately or accidentally, by a defending player, prior to the puck
crossing the goal line between the normal position of the goalposts, the
referee may award a goal.
In order to award a goal in this situation, the goal post must have been
displaced by the actions of a defending player, the puck must have been
shot (or the player must be in position to shoot) at the goal prior to the
goal post being displaced, and it must be determined that the puck would
have entered the net between the normal position of the goal posts.

(from the 2021-22 NCAA Ice Hockey Rules)

Yeah, I would've been surprised had they disallowed that goal. The puck was clearly going in anyway.

The announcers made it sound like if the net was off first, no goal. But then again, they pronounce dagger weird.

team played well in spurts..  but hopefully playing these 4 games against teams with much more speed than we normally see will pay off later.. some of the sloppy passing almost killed us..  that last penalty was just a bad lazy pass made for no reason leading to the tripping.  too many times they realized late that the passes too space were too close to ND as they had much more speed to recover those passes.

i cant imagine if we had somehow lost another game to an Empty net goal in the late seconds.

nice effort to hang around.. ND has some real offensive talent.  too many times we got in good spots and just didnt handle the puck well but down the stretch we did a good job of putting them home finally,

basically 3-2 games late . one we have up 2 goals.. one we couldnt score and one we did..  about all you can ask on the road coming off such a long layoff.

And this is exactly how we lost in Allston with the review there on the decisive goal.

This is the fanbase of a team playing in an arena funded by a guy who tried to tie the funding to perpetual use of the Sioux name and logo (to the extent that he had them put the logo on every seat to make it more difficult to change).  He also threw birthday parties for Hitler in the 80s.

Decency isn't always a strong suit there.

Last night I had an HDMI cable connected to my PC to view the game on my TV.  Today I checked out my Firestick an ROKU.  Both have an NCHCTV app available and I just finished watching the 9 minute plus condensed version of last nights game on the Firestick.  I am compelled to watch it again on ROKU to compare the image quality.::popcorn::

I have not yet signed on to either app and yet the condensed game is available - possibly on my screen because I chose North Dakota as my favorite team!

EDIT! In another interesting twist I noticed one can watch archived games after signing in on the apps but last night's Cornell game is only showing on my ROKU and not the Firestick!?!

Well, this (https://fightinghawks.com/sports/mens-ice-hockey/roster/coaches/karl-goehring/981) is unfortunate.

Select unfortunate quotes from that link:

Quote"We are extremely excited to have Karl back with our family at North Dakota," Berry said at the time of his hiring. "He exudes all the qualities of our strong culture-- tremendous work ethic, high compete level, team first approach, outstanding professionalism and possesses great communication skills. He is a true "Everydayer"...

Goehring fills out a coaching staff that is made up of all UND alums (Berry, '02, associate head coach Dane Jackson, '92)."
Gotta keep that bloodline clean.

Quote"Goehring had a huge hand in North Dakota's return to national prominence, breathing life into a much-improved power play..."
Propaganda Minister tries to go the other way.

Quote"In 2019-20, under Goehring's tutelage, the man-advantage improved to...second-most efficient..."
Ve cannot be only second-most efficient when we've already got them into their special penalty chamber!
