Women's hockey and basketball games canceled tonight.  Another bomb threat?

I'm in Ithaca this week and it seems like the games could have been played, but Syracuse and Colgate opted not to travel down because of the situation (probably the right call). Just guessing on Colgate, but the email sent to folks who had tickets to the hockey game said Syracuse decided not to make the trip. I was at an afternoon event on Central Campus that went on as scheduled while North Campus was under the shelter-in-place order.

ftr the shelter in place was removed without having caught the guy. Police determined that the gunfire that prompted the search (and which led to the arrest of two of his colleagues) was a very specific beef and that the man was not a general threat to the community at large.

The NCAA tournament will expand to 11 teams (yes, 11) either this season or next season.

I really wonder what they were thinking going with 11 and not 12.  11 apparently gives them the same fraction as the men of teams in the tournament (27%), but was there some sort of regulation that said they couldn't go over by one?

A USCHO columnist characterized it as malicious compliance.

Final: Cornell 2 Princeton 0

Revenge for the Princeton ECAC final win in 2020.

The Tigers had been #4 PWR so very nice win!

L. Browning with 37 saves and her third shut out of the year.  Plus she got called for a 5 min slashing right near end of second period, after a video review.  I couldn't see the pay clearly on the streaming view - could any one at the game enlighten me?

Here's the clip from the ESPN broadcast. Seemed really soft to me, but definitely a retaliatory slash of some form. (disclaimer: also wasn't at Lynah)

So weak. Princeton woman tapped her and she tapped her back. Move along.

At Matthews at 2 today and tomorrow.  NU (14-2-1, 7 shut outs!) is #3 in the country.  Big Red (4-5-1) lost 4-0 at home to #4 Q, so this will likely not go well.

Cornell played pretty well in stretches against Q, but they need more offensive threats other than the top line. The win over Princeton isn't looking quite as good a couple of weeks later, but I think Cornell will continue to get better as the season goes along. The D is really young as well and will improve. Messier is a ton of fun to watch.

Great, thanks!

Huskies with a huge giveaway in their zone and we could not quite connect.  Still scoreless late in the first.  We are being very careful and NU is getting frustrated.

My ambition for this 2-game series was not to be outscored by 10.  So far we are doing a good job countering their enormous talent advantage.

2-2 after two periods, and the webcast has crapped out.

Great game thru two periods at 2-2, but the video feed vanished into thin air...

4-2 NU with an EAG goal.
SOG 46-20, 16-2 in 3rd period.

They did a pretty good job staying with NU but we were not the better team as predicted.  Goalkeeper really kept helped keep us in the game.

Northeastern just won the second game of the series. 3-1 was the score. Whoever enters the data into Northeastern's live-stats engine gave the first star to Maddie Mills '21, who scored twice today.
