Some upset potential in game 1 of the best of 3 round
Union 2 @ Yale 0 06:33 2nd (I believe that's time remaining)
Princeton 2 @ Dartmouth 2 2:20 2nd
@ Colgate 1 Brown 0 5:53 2nd
St Lawrence 2 @ Harvard 2 5:22 2nd
Bad giveaway by St L late in the 2nd lets Harvard go up 3-2, and St L has to kill about 1:30 of penalty time to start the 3rd.
No one at the Union Yale game either.

SLU ties it, 17 to go in regulation.
Harvard back ahead, 13 to go.

Harvard again; not tonight SLU.
Princeton ties Dartmouth with 2:45 to go.

In contrast, Notre Dame @ Minnesota has been almost all Fighting Irish, but still knotted at 0-0 late in the 2nd. (Airing on FS2.)

Go, Tigers. But do it in three games so you're further worn out. 5pm Sunday faceoff, done 7:15 (unless OT), an hour to load the bus and depart, earliest they're back is 1:30 and that's if they have sandwiches on the bus. Could be 3 am.

Definitely more interesting that way.
NoDak gave up SOOO many breakaways.
Reported attendance last nite was 438 at Harvard & 700 at Yale. Our women's games draw much larger crowds.
438?! Yikes. What do the larger sections at Lynah hold? My rough math lands me at about 300

And the first round traditionally has had poor attendance. In addition, the Frozen Four is sending me a "please buy tickets so attendance doesn't suck like it did in Buffalo" messages every few days. (Seems like every few hours....) Attendance
IS an issue at many sporting events.

The Yalies are on spring break, so that partially explains the poor attendance for Friday's game.
Bright even emptier. They must be being extra careful of contagion.
Saturday so far is a repeat of Friday:
9 Brn 1
8 Cgt 2 (1-0)
10 Uni 1 (1-0)
7 Yal 0
11 Prn 2 (1-0)
6 Drt 0
12 SLU 0
5 Hvd 2 (1-0)
If these results continue:
11 Princeton at 1 Cornell
10 Union at 2 Clarkson
8 Colgate at 3 Quinnipiac
5 Harvard at 4 RPI
Saturday's game 2 of possibly 3. Upsets brewing. Could Cornell wind up hosting Princeton next week?
12 SLU 1 @ #5 Harvard 5 middle 2nd
11 Princeton 3 @ #6 Dartmouth 1 late 2nd
10 Union 1 @ #7 Yale 0 early 2nd
9 Brown 1 @ #8 Colgate 2 late 2nd

The icing Princeton took that led to that goal was just stupid. The Princeton player chose to take a ridiculous shot at the empty net over doing something smarter with the puck that would have allowed his team to advance. Just really dumb play.

I thought when the Dartmouth point main whiffed at the line and allowed that puck to get out of the zone that was going to be it.

Yeah, I was thinking about that. The difference, though, is there was a lot more time left. Also the Harvard player's shot was actually headed right for the goal until it hit that ice chip, turned on it's end and started rolling.

IIRC the year we almost upset #1 Q in the QF we did it.
Dartmouth going on pp on a really stupid interference penalty away from the play.
Gate announcers are terrible homers, and Gate-Brown game looks like a scrimmage with sweaters the exact opposite of each other.
Princeton with a great kill and nearly potted an elimination shorty.
Harvard padding their stats, 7-1 final.

Will be going to a second OT in New Haven.
Yale controlled the puck in the Union end for close to two minutes while the Union goalie didn't have his stick for much of that time, and made several saves. I was surprised that none of the Union players gave the goalie their stick. Is that not a thing these days?
Union appeared to have netted the game-winner, but it was immediately waved off (presumably for goaltender interference), and after a long review the call on the ice was upheld. Shortly after play restarted Yale scored while the Union goaltender once again did not have his stick.
So Yale advances.

Union readies for
golf croquet.
I was one of the few fans in attendance at the Yale-Union double-OT thriller. By the end of the game, there couldn't have been more than 300 fans in the building, and that's being generous. Those of us there didn't have to worry about getting infected. We were sitting in the first row near the Union bench, and for most of the game, there wasn't anyone within 20 feet of us, with the exception of the Union trainer, who was separated from us by a plastic/glass door.
Regarding the low attendance, the Yalies were on spring break. And according to CHN's data, Yale only played to about 50 percent of capacity during the regular season. I'm sure fears of the Coronavirus also contributed.
As for the game itself, Yale dominated, and could have won the game in regulation if it had converted a 2-on-1 break and a shorthanded breakaway. Union's goalie was outstanding, but got away with losing his stick for an extended stretch in the first OT, but not in the second OT. Union has zero offense. It's easy to see why they averaged less than 2 goals per game and why they only scored on 11 percent of their powerplays. Foo's line is their No. 1 line and scored their lone goal, but otherwise there was little to choose between their lines. It's hard to believe we let them score 3 goals against us when they tied us at Union. Yale has a long losing streak against Q, and I'd be surprised if they give Q much of a battle next weekend.
There were at least 3 Cornell fans at the game! I almost saw as many Cornell jerseys as Yale ones.
