Title: Cornell Baseball, dammit
Post by: RichH on February 26, 2020, 01:22:45 PM
Since I have no idea why my other thread is now a permanent "error" stain on this website, I'll try again.  All I did was point out a moment of futility for a CU sports team:

A Duke pitcher threw the 31st perfect game in NCAA D-1 history (https://www.espn.com/college-sports/baseball/story/_/id/28754040/duke-bryce-jarvis-fans-15-blue-devils-first-perfect-game) against a certain team from Ithaca. It was SportsCenter's #1 highlight on their Top-10 list thing.

Our field is named after a guy who played for an opponent.  Nuff said.

in better news, despite being swept we still had a pitcher named Freshman of the Week (https://cornellbigred.com/news/2020/2/24/solid-debut-earns-baseballs-edwards-weekly-ivy-league-honor.aspx) for throwing 5 innings of two-hit ball with 7 Ks in the second game of the series. Edwards took the loss but that's going to happen to good pitching performances when your team scores one run in 21 innings.

Whatchu takin' bout Willis?  David F. "Davy" Hoy is Cornell Class of 1891. If he's not #1 on the list of alumni whose name is most referenced by Cornellians, I'd be surprised.

Perhaps he was confusing that with the Lou Gehrig division in which Cornell competes.

Because both teams are wearing Crimson, it's hard to tell which one is Harvard, but no, it's not actually.
