Donato, you're an embarrassment to Harvard hockey, and Harvard hockey sucks.
Just lost the ESPN+ signal?
Refs let a few penalties go to start the game, so it only follows that a clear five is only a two.
I have seen few clearer fives.
Yup, that was bad. Glad Stienburg is OK.
place is going nuts. wish I was there!

As we started the 6 on 4 Lynah was as loud as I've ever heard it during play. (Well, it seemed that way, anyway.)
Lucky to have come out with a tie.
I'm not sure we were entirely lucky. Harvard was also lucky to get the bad turnover that gave them their only goal. This was probable a scoreless tie that happenstance turned into a 1-1 tie.

Plus, we really, really should've had a major. Hard to guarantee goals on it or anything, but if Wong got kicked out, it would've opened up space.
Any idea how long the injured players are expected out? We looked awful on face offs
Cornell was indeed lucky to come out with the tie. Harvard played such aggressive D, especially on the PK, and Cornell was unable to thread the needle on its passes in the little time and space Harvard gave them. I actually thought Cornell played well defensively and limited the chances of Harvard's dangerous offense, but repeated errant passes killed any chance at setting up the cycle, and without sustained possession Cornell was never able to impose its physicality. Harvard had the speed to play this way, and I would expect other talented teams to imitate this style against Cornell. Hopefully not a preview of an NCAA tournament game against another speedy team.

Interestingly, near the end of OT Grady said the FO's were only 31-29 Harvard

I measured 110 dB in Section E when we scored, Harvard def heard the Cornell fans during the game, After the Cantabrigians got on the board, Jack Drury came over to our section and held his arms out in a faux acknowledgment of our love for Harvard. Ballsy.
A 1-1 come from behind tie felt a lot better than 0-0.
Great weekend. Too bad 1970 leader Dan Lodboa passed recently. "Lodboa" as in third period hat track over Clarkson in the title game.

I repeatedly found myself screaming at the screen, "Stop passing into traffic!" We kept thinking we were playing Yale or SLU, not Harvard. Way too cute. If they're packing it in and clogging up the passing lanes in front of the net, try something besides a direct frontal assault - pull the puck back and get it moving around the perimeter so you can create some open space when they over-pursue.
first game all year we really didnt the cycle going all that much. but really we need to stop missing the net on so many of the chances, especially in a game where we are generating so many shots.
harvard came to play as you would expect after we jumped them game 1.
its about effort not talent for them
On the tube we looked very sloppy and careless. Is there a source of statistics on unforced turnovers? I'd be surprised if we weren't at or close to a season high.
Harvard was fast and precise. It also played to break up our breakouts.
To counter, we needed all five skaters to be on the same page. Too often, they weren't or they tried to be cute on their way between the red and blue lines.
I thought we should counter their blue-line structure by dumping the puck into the zone in ways the players off the puck could immediately forecheck. While I favor coordinated attacking across the blue line, we needed to make them pay for their strategy of breaking that up.
This is an odd thing to highlight, but man, Harvard was good at lobbing the puck high enough to slow its momentum and clear it without icing.

Whenever we play Harvard, I fear exactly what you've described leading to a breakaway goal. They've always ben oddly good at that.

Do you suppose they practice it?
A few folks have said Cornell was lucky to get out with a tie, and I guess that's true if thinking about the game as time was short and Cornell was down a goal, but over the course of the game despite the shot difference I though Cornell had just as many quality looks as Harvard, maybe more (perhaps my Big Red tinted glasses are partially to blame).
I agree that a bit more dump and chase might have worked. Cornell has players that can get to the corners fast and work for the puck; you dump while your attackers are getting up to speed and you can beat the flatter footed defenders at the blue line to the corners. (How strange it feels to say I wanted Cornell to dump the puck more.)
Something I noticed that NMich and Harvard did on their power plays was as they were coming to Cornell's blue line and Cornell had its players stacked there to make entry hard, the puck carrier would curl and pass back to a teammate who was coming at the blue line with a head of steam at a different entry point and it seemed to work to get the puck into the offensive zone. Maybe teams have been doing this and I hadn't noticed before.

The Fuscos either brought this to Harvard or perfected in the early 80s. Bright has a high roof (unencumbered with banners... hee hee) and you can really play Gravity's Rainbow there. Not so much at Lynah.
I imagine at Thompson they could get an NFL punt's hangtime.

Interesting thoughts that: (1) the home arena's architecture might dictate a team's overall skill set and, therefore, style of play and (2) the way a team memorializes its past successes, as well as the quantity and quality of such successes, might have a similar effect.
Q did some aggressive forechecking in November. I bet they go for that again next Friday.

Wong is obviously a Kevan Melrose cementhead. He's gonna be fun for the next four years. At some point somebody is going to have a talk with him. Not Mullin, though; I won't make that trade.
Wonder if Damian Rocke had a son. Hell, even a daughter.

I don't understand how tieing a chicken to the goal morphed into throwing fish.
The picture of the poor confused chicken exists - but this occurred sometime before 1972. The Sun mentions fish in the early 70's yet I don't remember any fish on the ice from 70-74.
Calling Bill Howard. You were in the class of '74. And how about comments from other folks with memories of the 70's?
There were chickens in the early 80s. I believe The Unfortunate Incident was 1984, and that was it for the fowl.
A lot of people have commented on how loud it was after the Regush goal. It sounded fantastic over ESPN+. I am very happy to hear this. The coach and players have also noticed, based on their comments. Even some of us stodgy "in my day" old timers think this compares favorably with any epoch of the Faithful.
We bitch constantly about latecomers and cell phones so I hope there's a ton of positive reinforcement being given to the students right now. They're really coming through and it helps. Later, if we can do this at the neutral sites, it could provide that tiny sliver of an edge -- the kind of thing that makes the difference in, oh I dunno, a triple overtime QF say.

Well, then, I have a suggestion...
TBH I did notice the girls in the student section appear to be getting hotter. This happened with the Mets in 86, too.

I actually did too, but something something small sample sizes.
If you are going remain atop....come to play Cornell. Seems as though you are playing afraid, without heart, and not as a number 1 team in DI hockey. Not impressed with ties!

Definitely both fish and fowl during my tenure (79-82). However, the fish were thrown before Sucks came out for the 3rd period, not at the beginning of the game.

Have you followed the demographics of the student body? Cripes, even the Engineering College took in over 50% women in 2018 (and I presume 2019). In my day, the ratio was 6:1 male:female (and we'd hike up Lib Slope uphill both ways!). Once you increase the size of the pool of women, the odds of seeing lots of attractive women increase. Also, and not to say that back in the day Cornell women were from an inherently less attractive demographic (have you seen films showing the Notorious RBG while she was at Cornell? -- quite the looker), but as one portion of the incoming student body admitted to fill available spots expands from taking only the top 1% to the top 2.5%, one might expect to pick up a larger percentage of applicants whose non-academic high school activities went beyond captain of the chess team, student body president, or editor of the school newspaper and now include captain of the cheerleaders or leading actress in the drama club. ::wow::
