Title: Cornell games audio and video
Post by: Trotsky on March 04, 2019, 10:05:58 AM
It would be great if there was a project to digitize this collection (http://rmc.library.cornell.edu/EAD/htmldocs/RMA03590.html).

IIRC there was an effort to put several important games that people had collected privately onto DVD but I don't know how that is proceeding.

Amazon has the 1969 final and the 2006 3ot loss to Wisco available on DVD.

It is possible some items will get included in this project:
https://crowdfunding.cornell.edu/project/11400

We did some as part of this project:
https://crowdfunding.cornell.edu/project/3814/updates/1

The guide has been updated to reflect the more recently digitized films.
As we clear rights the digitized films will eventually be uploaded here:
https://media.library.cornell.edu/category/2_Collections%3EUniversity+Archives/5877621

These are great!

Hockey here (https://media.library.cornell.edu/media/Cornell+in+Winter+1929/1_bid7y4qi/5877621) from 2:57 on.  God, we had a beautiful campus once, Before All The Shit (BATS).  Just dynamite everything built since 1929.  (Repeat for entire nation, if not world.)

Our passing should be crisper and the transition game through the neutral zone is atrocious. If only we could recruit a sniper.

Plus, what's with the lame fans?! The atmosphere around the lake just hasn't been the same since 1917.

I look forward to being offered the 2009 Lacrosse Final in a stunning 4K transfer, available for instant streaming.

That was our highest scoring game (http://www.tbrw.info/reports/rptCornell_Games_by_Year/rptCornell_Games_1929.pdf) of the season.

This probably accounts for the "Fire Bawlf" signs over to the north.

I think the 2003 semifinal against UNH will be available in 3D.

But from ice level? Or should I say, shoulder (or was it crossbar back then?) level.

It's the off-season so I'm bumping this.

I want to pay money to somebody who has the capacity to burn a DVD of tons of old Cornell games, where old can be, I dunno... basically anything.  Stuff not accessible online, since that would be superfluous (though of course somebody should make a backup of those against the day when TPTB decide an internet doesn't serve their interests anymore).

So, who wants my money?

Burn baby burn.  Disc go confusion.

Do you mean burn copies of games you have or copies Jim Hyla has?  Do you mean burn DVD to DVD or VHS to DVD?

Sounds like all of the above!

I'll one up this. I'd love to help fund this and would help pay to host the videos online if it were legally possible.

I have long since misplaced / 86'ed all my old game recordings.  They will not be missed, they were exceptionally poor quality.

I mean when I'm blackout drunk on a 116 degree August night in Phoenix I want to stumble over to my bookcase, grab a DVD, and watch 1970s or 1980s Cornell hockey until I pass out in a pool of my own piss and self-loathing.

Original media doesn't matter very much.

I don't think there is anything legal going on here.  Same with my martytoo YouTube channel.  It's almost all pirated from copyright held broadcasts.
