So, recent contests have been kinda boring so I'm thinking of making the following changes.
For each of the remaining 7 weekends, you will make your choices at any time prior to when the first weekend game begins.
For each game you will pick (1) who (if anyone) wins and (2) whether the game goes to ot.
Points as follows:
If you guess an RS winner: 1 if correct (either in ot or regulation), 0 if incorrect (either a tie or loss)
If you guess an OT tie: 2 if correct, 1 if ot but not tie, 0 if not ot
If you guess an OT winner: 3 if all correct, 1 if correct winner but not ot, 0 if incorrect winner in ot, -1 if incorrect winner and not ot
Before instituting the new rules I would like feedback. If the group has improvements I am all ears. The aims are:
1. Spread the possible outcomes to make it more interesting.
2. Give a player who falls behind a chance to get back into it albeit with long odds guesses.
3. Eliminating gamesmanship using expected value strategies having nothing to do with hockey (the RichH Memorial Rule).

3 and 2 seem incompatible. 2 is literally "consider gamesmanship if you crap the bed early."

I don't agree, because you still need to identify close games and the closeness refers back to the hockey. For example, do you consider pulling your goalie "gamesmanship"?
There seems to be zero interest so I'll be passing on the homestretch this year.
I'd be in. If I remember to post.
I kinda think the OT winner should be 2 points if you get it, not 3, but I'm not really basing that off anything.
