LGR & etc.
1-0 lead early.
1-1 at the end of 1, after one of the ugliest goals I've seen Cornell give up in a long time. Galajda tried to play the puck, then made a blind pass that was intercepted. The Northern Michigan player, Slattery, shot the puck towards the net with absolutely no angle, and it went in off the back of Galajda's leg. UGLY!
2-1 now but that margin would be higher if it weren't for the Northern Michigan goalie.
Edit: Make that 3-1 just a minute later. The goals are finally coming apparently.
Regush, from Vanderlaan and Nuttle, to make it 2-1. The goal came on Cornell's third PP of the period.
3-1, 1:15 later. Starrett from Donaldson. (Under offside review) Count it!
And now 3-1--Starrett from Donaldson. The goal was reviewed for offside.
Edit: (I'll let others do the updating, since everyone else appears to be quicker!)
Pretty sure this was a huge win for us in the pairwise.
If we didn't take at least one (or tie both) against Northern Michigan, we'd lose both head to head AND common opponent to both Michigan State and Northern Michigan, since they split a pair and are the only common opponents we have with them. So if we didn't go at least .500 this weekend, that's two guarantees pairwise losses.
Since RPI is the pairwise tiebreaker, winning tonight guarantees that we beat either team if we have a better RPI.
I think.
This should help us with common opponents since NMU and MSU are in the CCHA.
Why no I haven't bothered to learn the new conferences.
Northern Michigan being in the WCHA could help down the road if they play well against the likes of Mankato and Bemidji

Video of the NMU goal I mentioned above starts at about 30 seconds. When I wrote that the NMU player had "no angle" that was an understatement. He actually shot the puck from a couple of feet BELOW the goal line. Also my saying Galajda made a "blind pass" may not have been entirely accurate. Watching the replay I think he did see the Cornell player he was attempting to move the puck to. He just never saw the NMU player.

Much respect to the NMU video team for including hits, good saves from both goalies and multiple angles on the goals.

Agree. Harvard could take a lesson.

Harvard could take a lesson from us; we could take a lesson from NMU.
Did any Cornell fan make the trip to Marquette, Michigan, for the series? The location (430 miles NW of Ann Arbor / Detroit) makes Clarkson look like a Syracuse suburb.

... and Chicago is nearby in comparison, too. The game's location caused me to wonder if I'll ever make it to the UP.

Watching the internet stream I thought I heard a faint "Red" during the national anthem on Friday night, but not on Saturday night. After the game on Saturday night it looked like the Cornell players were acknowledging some fans. Also, I believe on one of the broadcasts (I don't recall which one), I caught a glimpse of part of a sign that said "Vanderlaan."

369 miles from O'Hare. 300 miles from the Milwaukee airport. 258 from the Duluth airport. Delta flies there from Detroit and Minneapolis and American from O'Hare.

The Alex Green and Hayden Stewart families are my bets for the fans in the stands. It's closer than Fargo or Winnipeg.
Ned & Anne Dykes went. I bought 2 tickets & a room, but didn't go because my wife's knee surgery had complications. 12 hours from Syracuse, not bad.

Yes, for sure. Hoping to see her at Harvard in three weeks. Give her our best, Jim.

Ditto, sans the Harvard part.
Give our best to Sherri and our wishes for her speedy recovery.
