Malott is ECAC POTW and Regush is ECAC ROTW for 2/11 (https://www.ecachockey.com/men/2018-19/Weekly_Awards/20190211_-_Men-s_Weekly_Awards).
QuoteCornell's Jeff Malott has earned player of the week honors after tying for the lead league in goal scoring this past weekend, and leading the Big Red to a pair of wins. In Friday's top-10 matchup against Clarkson, the junior netted a pair of goals, one of which came on the power play. He followed that up with an assist in Saturday night's win over St. Lawrence, helping Cornell extend its lead in the league standings.
Michael Regush (Cornell) earns rookie of the week for the second time this season after scoring a point in both games over the weekend. The Surrey, British Columbia native came up big on special teams, scoring a power play goal in each game to help the Big Red to another weekend sweep. He's been on a scoring streak of late, scoring four goals in his last six games.
However,
Quotetying for the lead league in goal scoring this past weekend
Malott is
nowhere near the league lead in goal scoring. They might be confusing him with Morgan Barron, as Barron is 3 goals behind Princeton's Ryan Kuffner. I guess?

I think they mean that his two goals were tied for the most during this particular weekend. It's a very poor wording if so.

As somebody mentioned last week, CBR appears to no longer be recording the post-games, and I am disappointed as well. Those were extremely interesting. Obviously if Mike objected to them as unnecessary or counter-productive after losses I can see it, but if it was just a budget/personnel issue that would be a shame.
Another week goes by and we get shut out of ECAC awards, men and women.
I guess you can say it's a team game and that's why both of our teams are in first place, without any player awards.

What award do you think we should have received last week after losing to RPI and squeaking by Union? I'm just glad that we're still technically in position for an at-large and worry that anything other than a 6 game winning streak will mean a long offseason.

Given what it would mean for the other ECAC teams clustered around us, this is probably true but I'm going to sweat it anyway.

The 2004 Injury Armageddon is what did it. I really feel like a little medical and puck luck and we're looking at a Frozen Four three-peat with those teams.
But where are the snows of yesteryear?

First, men and women.
Second, I meant it to look at the entire season. When you look through the season, for first place teams, I don't think our players have gotten much respect.
As said, maybe that's because both are doing well as teams, and not as individuals. If so, that's great.
And no, I didn't think the men deserved any awards for last weekend.
Well, maybe Donaldson could have gotten one for his "great acting."
Quote from: TrotskyI really feel like a little medical and puck luck and we're looking at a Frozen Four three-peat with those teams.
Vesce's injury absolutely demoralized the 2004 team. Don't remember what happened, but there was a whole lot of fighting in the game against Colgate that was his last regular-season game. Retribution?
Having to go play Minnesota on their ice in 2005 was a grave injustice. Man...
Maybe Cornell can get some recognition here.

Matt could win, though. Maybe Yanni? (Maybe not.)
Like any Carnelian blooded human I hate Fox but if he doesn't win Ivy, ECAC POTY, and the Hobey there's something amiss. Also, if he wins the Hobey he'll probably leave.

I don't think Fox is the favorite in the ECAC either--or at least he wasn't before last Saturday. Chase Priskie has 17 goals as a D-man. That's an incredible total. But then Priskie went and kicked someone, so my guess is Fox wins it now.

Quote from: margolismWho had their money on Austin McGrath being named First Team All Ivy goalie this season? Raise your hands.
Shortridge is going to win ECAC GOTY but it would be funny as anything if Matt won it.
Hadn't occurred to me that Princeton loses Teves along with Kuffner and Verroneau. Move over RPI and maybe SLU.
(Now watch they sweep us.)
Yanni with a shot at 4 straight Ivy First Teams. IINM this has never happened (http://www.tbrw.info/?/ivy_History/all_Ivy_Teams.htm).
With all due respect, Austin McGrath?
With all due respect, 2019 ECAC save percentages:
.924 McGrath
.916 Galajda

With all due respect, I'm lazy... What are McGrath's Ivy stats?
With no respect at all, courtesy of http://collegehockeystats.net:
0.925 Austin McGrath
0:918 Matthew Galajda
(both behind Sam Tucker;s 0.932)
GAA:
1.94 Austin McGrath
2.03 Matthew Galajda
(#1 and #2 in the Ivies)

But McGrath only played in 10 games (https://cornellbigred.com/roster.aspx?rp_id=48083&path=mhockey) this year. Of these, only 5 were Ivy League.
W-L-T Minutes GAA SV%
McGrath 3-1-0 247:52 1.94 .925
Galadja 4-1-1 355:13 2.03 .924
The answer was clear.

McGrath can be solid.. Hope he is today.. he also lets in some random weak goals when he loses focus.
to be honest I think McGrath has more high upside, he also makes more mistakes which is why we went with the Goalie who is more consistent in the long run

I disagree with this. Galajda has been phenomenal ever since opening weekend. He's made more highlight-reel saves this year than last, and he makes other difficult saves look easy. This isn't a slight against McGrath, who from the data we have is still pretty good. But Galajda is one of the best goalies in college hockey.

When Galadja is on, he's as good a goalie as I've seen for Cornell (I didn't really start following until the year after McKee's best year).
When he's off...
