Clarkson, despite only fielding a D1 women's team since 2003, just won their 3rd NCAA Championship, beating Colgate in a rematch of the ECAC Championship, 2-1 in OT.  Clarkson won all 3 of their NCAA games in overtime in successfully defending their 2017 championship. They're still the only eastern school to win the NCAA tournament since it started in 2001.

This was Colgate's first second third appearance in an NCAA championship game in any sport, and their 1st appearance in the women's hockey tournament. They advanced to the Final by beating Wisconsin in 2OT.

The next 4 Frozen Fours are all in eastern venues: Quinnipiac, Agganis, Erie, and Penn State.

I thought the Colgate men lost in the NCAA championship game around 1990 or so?

You're right! I'll inform my friend who is a proud Colgate alumna and a feeder of lies.

They also lost the I-AA football title game in 2003. By 40. So they may want to forget it.
