Title: FF in Boston
Post by: RedAR on April 01, 2003, 11:09:43 AM
While I am looking to see if I can get 1 set of tickets for the FF, I also want to make contingency plans for viewing of the FF in the Boston area.  Is there enough interest that we could get the Sports Depot to show the game?

I'm pretty sure that the Depot will show the game regardless.  It is the freakin' Frozen Four  :-P

Be prepared to deal with all kinds of UHN fans, though.  I'm currently trying to get tickets, and am determined to be in Buffalo, but if for some reason I can't make it, the Depot sounds like as good a place as any.  That's where I watched the second RPI game, amidst awkward stares from scores of college basketball fans who had no idea why I was cheering when CU scored and Lenny extended the shutout.  Good times... :-D

I was also thinking that Rock Bottom in Downtown Boston might be a good spot for people working in the downtown area who decide to take a 3 hour lunch break.  Big screen TV, good beer and food and a little easier to get to from almost anywhere....

It would surprise me if the Cornell Club didn't organize something, John.

But really, go to Buffalo if you can.  I am still wondering, should we make it to the finals, if I can make it from Bedford, MA to Buffalo, NY in time for the puck drop if I leave at 12:15pm on Saturday.  The web says it is a 7:15 hour drive... hmm.  Drive like Age (from what I have heard), perhaps.

LGR!

I have several emails out trying to find 1 ticket.  It's kinda hard, cause most people seem to want to sell it in quantities of 2 or 4.  In anycase, I'm taking this thing 1 step at a time.

If all else fails, then I'll be satisfied watching the game with a group of Lynah Faithful.

Chris, are you absolutely positive that you can't go?  (I promise, I won't tell Anne)  :)

You know, buying blocks of 2 or 4 when you find them might be smart, even if you don't need them, since I'd bet it'd be REALLY easy to unload them to other Cornell fans, guaranteeing a larger presence.

The Cornell Club of Boston will have an official announcement as to gatherings to watch the games shortly.  In the meantime, go buy tickets.

The speed that everyone goes on the Thruway is 73. It's pretty safe if you stay under 80 and try to go with the flow of the traffic. That said, I think it's unlikely you will be able to make it into downtown Buffalo, find a spot, and walk to the arena in time for the first puck drop.

Good luck though ;-)

Having done that drive 8 gajillion times, I agree with Grant.  From Cambridge, MA to Clarence, NY (about 30 minutes on a good day from sitting down at HSBC), at 75 without stopping, is 7:15 at best.  On the other hand, my friends who go 85 do significantly better, timewise...

I'm making the drive myself on Wednesday night ::coffee:: - I can post how long it took me once I get there, if I can find a computer.
