For those who can't get enough (like me), the Providence Journal has four stories, mostly BC-oriented.

A 57-37 advantage in faceoffs, with Vesce taking 26 out of 36!
What's interesting was several of us in our section mentioned that it seemed like Cornell wasn't winning many face-offs.
It would be interesting to see a period-by-period breakdown of face-offs won, but that's just a little too stats-geek-y to expect.

Raeder said the same thing at one point.::rolleyes::
It seemed to me like no one won faceoffs but Vesce. I was disappointed with Matt McRae's faceoff performance, and he definitely took most of them towards the end of the game
I think we can give Matty a pass after his game-winner...
:-D :-D :-D :-D :-D
Well, 11 of 22 faceoffs won by Mcrae isn't too shabby. Though he might've been winning early and losing late - can't tell from the numbers we have.
McRae must've taken a lot of faceoffs down the stretch because Vesce was banged up - saw him limping off sometime in the third or first overtime. Pretty sure he did play again later, but not as often. I didn't get the impression that it was serious.

Pretty sure he did play again later, [/Q] Yes, I noted that injury and hoped that he would come back, which he did. I didn't remember him not playing his line later, but maybe somone can check his tape to see. My VCR didn't tape the finals, but that's another story.:`(

Matt McRae double-shifted with both Baby/Moulson and Paolini/Hynes during the last three minutes of the first OT. But Vesce did take (and win) the opening faceoff of the second OT with Baby and Moulson. No further data points because Matt ended it on the second shift.;-)
The most interesting faceoff statistic came from the Mankato game. The Mavericks top faceoff guy went something like 8-26. Everyone he faced stole his milk money and ate his lunch.
