Title: Dartmouth vs. Cornell 11/10/17
Post by: Iceberg on November 10, 2017, 10:09:36 AM
Dartmouth is coming off a sweep at home against a (basically) one-line Yale team and a Brown team that continues to play poorly. Then again, it seems no matter how good or bad Dartmouth is, they always seem to be a problem. They haven't lost a game at Lynah since the early years of Andy Iles.

Again, another classic trap game.

The best I've felt about the Red a few games into the season since 2009-10. But we'll see how tomorrow goes.

3-0 was about dominant as it gets, other than a few min in the 2nd complete shut down of Dart.   EVen the 5 min penalty we had more chances.  for a goalie who is about 5 min away from 4 shutouts still cant get a read on him,  thought position ally he was excellent on the few real chances Dart had.

just need to bury a few more of the grade A chances, cause we have been getting a ton of them

A few observations:

Other than his silly penalty late in the game, Rauter had a terrific game.  As I mentioned on the chat, I can't remember a Cornell player who has shown such career improvement.

Stellar performance by the newly constructed Angello-Vanderlaan-Starret line.  They dominated whenever they were on the ice.

Malott has become a beast down low and in the corners, and must have off-the charts possession stats.

Donaldson is slick and opportunistic, and is a joy to watch. I can see why he was the BCHL rookie-of-the-year last season.

Superb job on the penalty kill, and as noted we had the better chances on Dartmouth's 5 minute power play.

Interesting the Schafer went back to Galajda after Stewart played well in relief last Saturday. Galajda didn't have much work tonight, but easily handled everything that came his way.

Terrific depth accross all four forward lines that can just wear down teams. Some talented players will be sitting out every game.

Before we get ahead of ourselves (myself included) we haven't really played any world beaters so far. Quinnipiac went to 0-3 in the ECAC tonight and it looks like a down year for them.  But top-to-bottom we look like a balanced and determined team.

Tomorrow should be something.

harvard and Clarkson next week will start to tell us where we are.. lots of Fr seeing big time minutes and making plays.  some really creative passing going on which is always good to see..  we are shooting.  a few to many hit people but still the Dart goalie was pretty solid and some crazy saves or its a 6-0 game.

Stewart wasn't dressed for the game. A person who sits in front of me said he was injured again, which makes sense as I'm sure he would have been dressed if he was healthy.

St. Cloud State lost to Denver tonight, so we are the last team remaining unbeaten and untied. We are also, for the moment, first in the pairwise.

Let's hope we can still say this in 24 hours.

Does the 1970 team do a toast in this case or not?

I assume you are referencing the '72 Dolphins here. A cool story, that has unfortunately been debunked:
