Because there are people here far, far smarter and more experienced with tech stuff than I.
You know how on many websites when you open them they will cycle through a series of stories/pictures as a kind of time-driven menu? Sometimes there is no index to those and you have to wait until the one you care about comes around again. Small annoyance. Even when there is an index sometimes the cycling is too fast and it's hard to click the image quickly enough before it changes.
Is there a default hot key / combo which will disable the cycling?

Such as the CornellBigRed.com carousel (most common term) that advances every ~5 seconds? That is set by the site programmers. You've seen you can advance at any time to the next carousel slide / story by clicking the black bullet but you can't keep it there by, say, holding down the current (red) bullet. You've also seen you can't declare favorites so MHockey, MLax, WHockey, Wrestling, Polo are the first you see. A site might be coded to allow for user-set variable timings but I bet the creative director would shoot it down on the grounds of excess clutter.
The RPI site (http://www.rpiathletics.com/index.aspx?tab=hockey&path=hockey) does that also. I find it to be a PITA. Thankfully it has that column of dots on the left which allows one to back up. That partially helps with the red on black writing which I find impossible to read without highlighting due to red-green colorblindness. I usually have to back up several times to find the line charts or whatever else I am looking for.
I'll add on the air that another solution would be to put youself at the mercy of the Webmaster. That is, ask said master to make the site more user friendly.
I recently did that at my parttime gig and was semi-publicly told that a workaround was just as good as my idea. (And these folks had asked for feedback.)
